The Crimson Desert developer has come forward with a statement addressing the AI-generated art found in the game.
\nPearl Abyss says that generative AI was used early in development to test the tone and atmosphere.

Crimson Desert has faced multiple controversies so far. Before launch, many criticized the game for the addition of Denuvo<\/a>, and very recently, fans have spotted AI-generated assets<\/a> in the title.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of generative AI assets led to mass outrage, and in the wake of audience reactions, Pearl Abyss has come forward with an explanation. According to the team, Crimson Desert\u2019s AI-generated assets were not supposed to make it into the final build.<\/p>\n

Why it matters: Not too long, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 faced a similar controversy. Interestingly, the team also offered a similar justification for why AI-generated art<\/a> was left in the game.<\/p>\n

Crimson Desert\u2019s developer also says that it will thoroughly review all in-game assets to remove any AI-generated content and replace it with new assets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Many players say this oversight came about as a result of Pearl Abyss rushing the game for release. Still, players will be glad to know that the team is at least looking to address these concerns.<\/p>\n
