{"id":557869,"date":"2026-03-22T22:47:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-22T22:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/557869\/"},"modified":"2026-03-22T22:47:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-22T22:47:11","slug":"works-complete-at-thomas-sawyer-way-to-improve-walking-and-cycling-links-www-watford-gov-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/557869\/","title":{"rendered":"Works complete at Thomas Sawyer Way to improve walking and cycling links \u2013 www.watford.gov.uk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                                    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image image--feature\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/653923620_1551247407005404_7822063976334137195_n.jpg\" alt=\"Thomas Sawyer Way Green Loop\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"summary\">Hertfordshire County Council, working in close collaboration with Watford Borough Council, has completed the first in a series of planned improvements to the Watford Green Loop&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>This is an important project forming part of wider plans to improve accessibility across the town.<\/p>\n<p>The latest works on Thomas Sawyer Way significantly enhance access to the much\u2011loved Oxhey Park and are being delivered just in time for the busy Easter holidays, when use of the activity park increases considerably.<\/p>\n<p>The Watford Green Loop is a key piece of active travel infrastructure: a 6.5\u2011mile walking and cycling route connecting major destinations with open green spaces across Watford. As part of ongoing improvements to this route, a new signalised crossing designed for people walking, wheeling, or cycling has now been installed on Thomas Sawyer Way.<\/p>\n<p>The new crossing makes the junction with Dalton Way much safer and easier to navigate, allowing users to cross the road via new traffic signals. Previously, people had to wait on an island in the centre of a busy road.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the upgraded crossing, the project has delivered resurfacing of the road and widened shared\u2011use paths, improving comfort and accessibility for all users.<\/p>\n<p>Full details of the planned Watford Green Loop improvements are available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hertfordshire.gov.uk\/activetravel\" title=\"Original URL: http:\/\/www.hertfordshire.gov.uk\/activetravel.
