Women’s junior flyweight boxer Isis Sio has been placed in a medically induced coma. She was knocked out in the first round of her bout against Jocelyn Camarillo on Saturday, March 21.<\/p>\n

Sio, 19, was competing in just her fourth career boxing match, entering the fight with a 1-2 record at the time. She had been knocked out in her last fight, but it was from body punches.<\/p>\n

After she was knocked out, Sio instantly received medical attention. When it was obvious she would need more care, she was put on a stretcher and helped to the back before being transported to a local hospital.<\/p>\n

The fight was held as part of a ProBoxTV event in San Bernardino, California. Sio was knocked out after repeated shots to the head. While she was stretchered out, she was seen convulsing, per ESPN<\/a>. Sio was transferred to Loma Linda University Health Medical Center for further treatment.<\/p>\n
