It comes as the TV doctor\u2019s latest book, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/lifestyle\/health\/michael-mosleys-son-dr-jack-36817854\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Just One Thing Volume 2 is set to be released posthumously.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Michael, 67, died after going missing while on a walk on the Greek island of Symi. He left St. Nikolas beach on June 5, 2024, to walk two miles to Symi Town.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">However his body was found four days later. Since then his son, Dr Jack Mosley, and wife, Dr Clare Bailey-Mosley have continued his pioneering <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/health\/michael-mosleys-son-dr-jack-36752771\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">work on the likes of the 5:2 Diet and the Fast800 plan.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In his latest book, Michael says there is one thing you can do at meal times that can have \u201csurprising\u201d benefits. He says Britain is a nation of \u201cspeed eaters\u201d with the average meal getting consumed in under 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The late <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/bbc\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">BBC<\/a> star says people used to \u201cspend time on dinner\u201d. It led him to discovering there\u2019s \u201clots to be said\u201d for slowing down your eating pace and \u201ctaking your time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A person eating\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/0_GettyImages-1516943190.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"Dr Michael says people should eat more slowly\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">Dr Michael says people should eat more slowly(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In an excerpt published in the Daily Mail, he wrote: \u201cEating at a slower pace may help with weight maintenance and keeping blood sugar stable, as well as reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He says there are simple ways to help yourself slow down at meal times. In fact, many people he believes simply go into \u201cautopilot,\u201d grabbing lunch on the go or eating while doing something else.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He added: \u201cBut eating more slowly can help you tune into your body\u2019s natural hunger and fullness signals, improve digestion and even support weight management.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC4212566\/#:~:text=A%20study%20examined%20the%20effects%20of%20slow%2Dspaced,It%20may%20also%20help%20curb%20food%20intake.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">A 2014 study <\/a>found those who eat more slowly found themselves feeling fuller and had a positive \u201cgut response\u201d afterwards. Alternatively he says diners could use their non-dominant hand, something he believes promotes \u201cmindful eating\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Another way to slow down your eating speed is to consider using chopsticks or a smaller teaspoon. This he says will help you \u201ctake smaller bites\u201d meaning you have a \u201cmore relaxing meal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Playing slow music and avoiding distractions such as the television can also promote a more mindful dinner experience, the doctor explained. He believes that focusing on the flavours in the food means you will \u201cnotice when you\u2019ve had enough\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Finally he says you can use a mindful eating app that will help stretch meal times over 20, even 30, minutes.
