target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">consumer discretionary<\/a> shares led the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/investing-education\/market-sectors-guide\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">market sectors<\/a>\u00a0amid official retail data suggesting Aussies are spending again. <\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0S&amp;P\/ASX 200 Consumer Discretionary Index\u00a0(ASX: XDJ) rose 2.56% over the five trading days. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the S&amp;P\/ASX 200 Index\u00a0(ASX: XJO) fell 0.06% to close at 8,662 points on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/2025\/07\/31\/asx-retail-shares-outperform-on-thursday-amid-a-sales-surge-in-june\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a &#8216;retail sales surge&#8217; in June<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Seasonally adjusted figures showed a 1.2% lift in national retail turnover last month. <\/p>\n<p>This follows a 0.5% rise in May after a flat April.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new retail figures followed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/2025\/07\/30\/asx-200-lifts-off-as-inflation-data-spurs-hope-for-rba-interest-rate-cuts\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">better-than-expected inflation data for the June quarter<\/a>\u00a0released on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The inflation figures raised expectations of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/investing-education\/interest-rates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">interest rate<\/a> cut in August, which would boost consumers&#8217; spending power. <\/p>\n<p>On Friday, we learned that Australia had been spared a tariff bump after President Trump released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/2025\/08\/01\/asx-200-falls-as-us-finalises-tariffs-set-to-begin-next-week\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">finalised list of tariffs<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The finalised tariffs will come into effect on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p> ASX 200 retail shares led the market last week <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/asx-reporting-season-calendar\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Earnings season<\/a> has now officially begun.<\/p>\n<p>Many top ASX 200 retailers announced when they would reveal their full-year FY25 results last week. <\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve included those dates, where available, below. <\/p>\n<p>Shares in the consumer discretionary sector&#8217;s largest company, Wesfarmers Ltd (<a class=\"tickerized-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-wes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX: WES<\/a>), lifted 3.08% to $84.97 last week.<\/p>\n<p>Wesfarmers will release its full-year FY25 results on Thursday, 28 August. <\/p>\n<p>Shares in gaming technology company Aristocrat Leisure Limited (<a class=\"tickerized-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-all\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX: ALL<\/a>) rose by 3.01% to $69.21.<\/p>\n<p>JB Hi-Fi Ltd (<a class=\"tickerized-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-jbh\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX: JBH<\/a>) shares rose by 6.31% to close out the week at $112.63. <\/p>\n<p>JB Hi-Fi will report its results on Monday, 11 August.<\/p>\n<p>Shares in furniture retailer Harvey Norman Holdings Limited (<a class=\"tickerized-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-hvn\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX: HVN<\/a>) lifted 3.56% to $5.82 apiece.<\/p>\n<p>The ASX 200 retail share hit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/2025\/01\/30\/19-asx-200-shares-smashing-multi-year-highs-as-market-peaks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">four-year high<\/a> of $5.85 on Friday. <\/p>\n<p>Breville Group Ltd (<a class=\"tickerized-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-brg\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX: BRG<\/a>) lifted 3.78% to close the week at $33.24. <\/p>\n<p>Breville will release its results on Wednesday, 20 August.<\/p>\n<p>Shares in Premier Investments Limited (<a class=\"tickerized-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-pmv\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX: PMV<\/a>) lifted 2.18% to $21.10. <\/p>\n<p>Lovisa Holdings Ltd\u00a0(<a class=\"tickerized-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-lov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX: LOV<\/a>) shares rose by 3.08% to close at $33.81.<\/p>\n<p>Lovisa will release its results on Wednesday, 27 August.<\/p>\n<p> Sector fallers last week  <\/p>\n<p>The Lottery Corporation Ltd\u00a0(<a class=\"tickerized-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-tlc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX: TLC<\/a>) share price declined 1.47% to close out the week at $$5.37. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Lottery Corporation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-tlc\/announcements\/2025-07-28\/3a672273\/appointment-of-managing-director-and-chief-executive-officer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced that Wayne Pickup would be the next Managing Director and CEO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pickup will succeed Sue van der Merwe, who announced her retirement in March after a 35-year career in the lottery industry. <\/p>\n<p>The Lottery Corporation will report its results on Wednesday, 20 August.<\/p>\n<p>Outside the ASX 200, Star Entertainment Group Ltd\u00a0(<a class=\"tickerized-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-sgr\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX: SGR<\/a>) shares fell 23% to 9.2 cents.<\/p>\n<p>The Star Entertainment share price fell to a record low of 9.1 cents on Friday on news that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/2025\/08\/01\/star-entertainment-shares-tumble-9-after-queens-wharf-deal-terminated\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">its sale of Queen&#8217;s Wharf is off<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Star Entertainment\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com.au\/tickers\/asx-sgr\/announcements\/2025-07-30\/2a1610639\/quarterly-activities-appendix-4c-cash-flow-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>\u00a0an unaudited $270 million in revenue for 4Q FY25, down 31% on 4Q FY24.<\/p>\n<p>Star Entertainment is scheduled to release its results on Thursday, 28 August.
