{"id":56017,"date":"2025-08-09T19:16:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T19:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/56017\/"},"modified":"2025-08-09T19:16:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T19:16:09","slug":"supercars-co-drivers-epic-22-hours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/56017\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars co-driver\u2019s epic 22 hours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HARRI Jones could barely talk through his emotions after winning Saturday\u2019s opening Porsche Carrera Cup Australia race at Queensland Raceway.<\/p>\n<p>Little wonder why; he\u2019d had an incredible 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>At 3:30pm on Friday, he claimed a narrow pole position over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-29-David-Russell\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Russell<\/a>, setting a new lap record along the way.<\/p>\n<p>Soon afterwards, he was on the road to the Sunshine Coast, bound for the hospital where his wife Emily was in labour.<\/p>\n<p>At 4:21am, their son Leo was born.<\/p>\n<p>Just 10 hours later, Jones was back at Queensland Raceway taking a dominant race victory.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/2025-repco-bathurst-1000-official-program?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/cdn\/shop\/files\/2025-repco-bathurst-1000-program_1024x1024.jpg?v=1754521412\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He ran out the winner by eight seconds over Russell, setting the fastest lap of the race by almost half a second and again setting a new lap record.<\/p>\n<p>And on barely an hour\u2019s sleep.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the happiest day of my life \u2013 it\u2019s been a pretty incredible 24 hours,\u201d Jones said afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was so much fun out there. At the end of the day I had about an hour\u2019s sleep last night, so today more than ever you had to stick to your processes: good out-lap, good race start, and then once we get going, we know how to drive this track, so eyes forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe win was awesome, but I think everything that happened last night and the birth of my little baby boy Leo and watching Emily just be \u2026 oh it\u2019s incredible.
