\n The Swaledale Outdoor Club cycling section held the event on March 14, starting from The Greyhound Inn in Hackforth.\n<\/p>\n
\n It was here that eight riders gathered in March 1976 for the group\u2019s inaugural outing.\n<\/p>\n
\n A spokesperson said: “Debbie and Liam, the Greyhound landlords, welcomed us to their lovely traditional Inn, and very efficiently supplied us with butties and drinks.\n<\/p>\n

\n “After much sociallising, we finally set off on a beautiful sunny morning, following rural lanes to Bedale where we took a detour to visit the old harbour as did the riders in 1976.”\n<\/p>\n
\n This year, 36 cyclists took part, retracing much of the original route and including a stop at the old harbour in Bedale.\n<\/p>\n
\n The route continued through West Tanfield to Grewelthorpe Village Hall, where riders enjoyed soup, sandwiches and cake.\n<\/p>\n
\n The spokesperson added: “We refuelled with delicious soup, sandwiches and cake provided by the volunteers at this excellent Local Community Facility, a regular cafe stop on our twice weekly rides.”\n<\/p>\n
\n “The return leg took riders through Masham and back to Hackforth.\n<\/p>\n
