There was\u00a0little variation\u00a0in the\u00a0scorecards;\u00a0117-109, 117-109 and 118-108 saw the champion score\u00a0a relatively easy\u00a0victory.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said it before the fight, destroy and demolish, and that\u2019s exactly what I did,\u201d Adames said in a statement sent to Boxing Social. \u201cI\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0just\u00a0win,\u00a0I sent a message to the entire middleweight division.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I sent him down in the second round, I knew the fight was mine. From that moment on, it was about discipline, breaking him down round by round and showing the world my level.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 31-year-old from the Dominican Republic went into his second title\u00a0defence\u00a0with Williams following a frustrating split decision draw with Hamzah\u00a0Sheeraz\u00a0last year. One judge gave Adames the nod, with a score of 118-110, while the other two judges scored 114-115 and 114-114. Adames was\u00a0largely considered\u00a0unfortunate in a fight described\u00a0by\u00a0various media outlets as \u201ccontroversial\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThirteen months away didn\u2019t slow me down,\u201d Adames added. \u201cIt made me sharper and more dangerous,\u201d said Adames. \u201cI came back with something to prove, and I proved it in\u00a0dominant\u00a0fashion.\u00a0I\u00a0truly believe\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0the best middleweight in the world right now. Anyone with a belt, anyone with a name,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0ready. If\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0at 160 and you think\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0the best, even anyone at 168 pounds,\u00a0come see\u00a0me.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0taking over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The middleweight\u00a0divison\u00a0has been rocked by the news that unified IBF and WBO champion\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/boxing-social.com\/news\/ibf-strips-janibek-alimkhanuly-of-title-following-failed-drug-test\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/boxing-social.com\/news\/ibf-strips-janibek-alimkhanuly-of-title-following-failed-drug-test\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Janibek\u00a0Alimkhanuly\u00a0had failed a performance enhancing drug test, leading to\u00a0the\u00a0IBF\u00a0stripping\u00a0him of his belt<\/a>.
