{"id":561136,"date":"2026-03-24T13:01:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T13:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/561136\/"},"modified":"2026-03-24T13:01:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T13:01:10","slug":"west-coast-eagles-injury-update-round-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/561136\/","title":{"rendered":"West Coast Eagles injury update: Round Three"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__summary\">\n                High Performance Manager Phil Merriman provides an update on West Coast\u2019s returning players\n            <\/p>\n<p>\n                            By westcoasteagles.com.au\n                            <\/p>\n<p>The West Coast Eagles\u2019 exciting recruit Milan Murdock will face a stint on the sidelines after scans confirmed a moderate\u2011grade hamstring injury.<\/p>\n<p>Murdock reported awareness during the game, and the club will take the next few days to determine a clearer return to play timeframe for the energetic small forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, Milan felt some awareness in his hamstring during the match and scans have shown a moderate\u2011grade injury,\u201d High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll get a better sense of timeframes as the week goes on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In better news, co-captain Liam Baker and forward Jamie Cripps are on track to take on Port Adelaide in round three, with Baker\u2019s ankle showing no structural concerns and Cripps recovering well from a bruised shoulder sustained in the final term against North Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>Jack Williams (calf) and Elijah Hewett (quad) are also expected to be available after brief layoffs, while Sandy Brock (ankle) will be assessed at training on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSandy will work through this week with the plan to join the main group for training on Thursday,\u201d Merriman said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTom Gross is progressing but remains another week or two away with his hamstring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Key defender Harry Edwards will be monitored closely after a second concussion, with the club working through the required protocols without setting a return date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we always do with concussions, we\u2019ll take the appropriate steps and make sure Harry\u2019s health is the priority,\u201d Merriman said.<\/p>\n<p>Brandon Starcevich will require an extended build after missing significant conditioning time through knee and calf issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrandon has been prioritising strength for his calf and is getting started on some running progressions,\u201d Merriman said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will take some time to build his fitness back up having missed a large chunk of pre-season and games due to his knee and recurrent calf issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will update his return-to-play timeline as he progresses his workload.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Developing utility Jack Hutchinson is tracking well in his recovery from an ankle injury and will rejoin main training this week.<\/p>\n<p>Draftee Fred Rodriguez is also progressing strongly through his foot rehabilitation and continues to impress with his professionalism as he builds back into the main program.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow draftee Sam Allen is integrating more non\u2011contact football work and edging closer to the next phase of his program following his ACL injury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to see Sam\u2019s athletic ability shine as he continues to progress,\u201d Merriman said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFred is flying through his reconditioning and is ultra-professional in everything that he is asked to do.
