But in the case of Scottie Scheffler, it was expected \u2013 and thankfully for him not injury-related.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.australiangolfdigest.com.au\/scottie-scheffler-historic-pga-tour-streak-ends-in-crazy-fashion\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scottie Scheffler\u2019s historic PGA Tour streak ends in crazy fashion<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Scheffler\u2019s wife, Meredith, is pregnant with the couple\u2019s second child, and Golf Digest has confirmed with Scheffler\u2019s team that his decision to pull out of the Texas Children\u2019s Houston Open overnight (Australian time) was connected to the impending birth.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Kuchar is filling Scheffler\u2019s spot in the field at Memorial Park.<\/p>\n<p>The arrival of a baby in the midst of major championship preparation isn\u2019t new for Scheffler. His first child, Bennett, was born in May 2024, shortly after Scheffler won his second Masters title and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.australiangolfdigest.com.au\/scottie-scheffler-pga-championship-son-birth-2024\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a few days before the PGA Championship<\/a> at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of that year\u2019s Masters, Scheffler was asked about his plans should Meredith go into labour while he was at Augusta National. \u201cYeah, open lines of communication and she can get ahold of me if she needs to. I\u2019m ready to go at a moment\u2019s notice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This week\u2019s PGA Tour stop at Memorial Park was going to be Scheffler\u2019s last formal prep before he tries to win a third green jacket in five years. Scheffler started this season with a win and three top-five finishes in his first three starts.
