With the season premiere now available on the Disney+ service, the first reviews are out for the second season of Marvel Studios\u2019 \u201cDaredevil: Born Again\u201d and with 37 reviews counted, the series is holding at a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> and a 72\/100 on Metacritic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a notable improvement on the first season which drew an 87% on RT and a 69\/100 on MC. The new season marks the first full one under showrunner Dario Scardapone, following his having to rework a prior team\u2019s work which constituted much of the footage of the first season.<\/p>\n

This has resulted in a darker season tackling Mayor Wilson Fisk\u2019s martial law declaration and his war against vigilantes. Charlie Cox, Vincent D\u2019Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Deborah Ann Woll and Krysten Ritter all appear in the new season.<\/p>\n

The reviews come as a third season of the series recently began production. Here\u2019s a sampling of those Season 2 reviews:<\/p>\n

\u201cScardapone digs deeper into personal and societal dysfunction than ever. He also brings last year\u2019s dangling story threads to satisfying conclusions.\u201d \u2013 Bob Strauss, SF Chronicle<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cFor the most part, the season is a slow build up to yet another showdown between Matt and the villains of Hell\u2019s Kitchen.\u201d \u2013 Rachekl Leishman, The Mary Sue<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWhile Daredevil: Born Again continues to be a watchable Marvel series with good performances, your enjoyment of the show may depend on how close you feel Fisk\u2019s New York is to what is going on in real life.\u201d \u2013 Joel Keller, Decider<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cStrikes a more assured balance than before between Matt\/Daredevil\u2019s belief in the rule of law, his desire to take matters into his own hands, and his Catholicism-driven struggles with guilt, salvation, repentance, and grace.\u201d \u2013 Nick Schager, The Daily Beast<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cDaredevil: Born Again\u2019s second season is packed with too many characters and subplots, some far better used than others. But the central story of Matt Murdock\u2019s quest to take down Mayor Fisk remains compelling, backed by cool and exciting action scenes.\u201d \u2013 Eric Goldman, IGN<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIts restrictive character writing and dull, self-contained storytelling result in a middling, slow-building season; one that feels more promising for what\u2019s on the horizon than what it delivers now.\u201d \u2013 Rendy Jones, RogerEbert.com<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cPredictable storytelling, and unavoidable focus on social commentary have left it without the standout, conversation-sparking moments that once defined the series.\u201d \u2013 Andrew Mack, Screen Anarchy<\/a><\/p>\n

The second season aired its first episode today, with episodes two and three both coming this time next week. After that, it will release weekly through until May 5th with \u201cThe Punisher: One Last Kill\u201d special presentation airing the week after on May 12th.<\/p>\n
