Ange Postecoglou has been speaking about Tottenham’s current crisis during a frank interview with Melbourne-based radio station SEN 1116<\/p>\n

Ange Postecoglou has addressed his deep connection to Tottenham<\/p>\n

Ange Postecoglou insists his connection with Tottenham<\/a> will last forever – and he has also backed his former employers to survive the dreaded drop to the Championship.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Melbourne-based radio station SEN 1116<\/a>, the Aussie acknowledged that Spurs are “in a hell of a fight” to keep their head above water in the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But he feels they have enough quality in their ranks to preserve their top-flight status, explaining when asked how he feels about Tottenham’s ongoing struggles: \u201cNot great, I still have a really strong attachment to the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was two years and they were by no means easy years, but we invested a lot into them. Second last game we won a European trophy which was an incredible high.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe connection there will be there forever. To watch them struggle has not been easy and it\u2019s not the way I thought it would go. They\u2019re in a hell of a fight, relegation is massive for any club but for Tottenham, it\u2019s a pretty big deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have some fighting to do and they have the quality to get out. They need a circuit-breaker for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Postecoglou was brutally relieved of his duties by Daniel Levy last summer after guiding Tottenham to Europa League glory in Bilbao, ending the club’s gruelling 17-year wait for silverware.<\/p>\n

He was back in work with Nottingham Forest, another relegation contender, in September but was sacked just 39 days later after eight matches without a win in all competitions.<\/p>\n

The 60-year-old admits he watched his two former sides do battle on Sunday, on TV, as ruthless Forest ran out 3-0 winners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to leapfrog their relegation rivals.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI did watch it \u2013 I\u2019m still very much invested \u2013 particularly in Spurs because of the players and some of the staff there.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had two years together, you always have that attachment. If you had have told me in May last year that this would be the scenario of watching two teams I have managed in the last calendar year I would have said \u2018no that\u2019s beyond the realms of possibility\u2019.<\/p>\n

“I tuned in and I watched. It was an uncomfortable watch, I didn\u2019t enjoy it that\u2019s for sure.”<\/p>\n

Postecoglou also made it clear he would prefer to wait until the summer, when he would receive the chance to oversee a full pre-season, to step back into work.<\/p>\n

That said, he is chomping at the bit for his next challenge and feels he has unfinished business in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
