Imagine if you were told out of the blue that you were about to interview the stars of your favourite TV show.<\/p>\n
You\u2019d freak out, right?<\/p>\n
That\u2019s exactly how two students from Newtown High School of the Performing Arts reacted when we surprised them recently with the help of Netflix.<\/p>\n
News.com.au was invited to interview the stars of Heartbreak High to promote the hit show\u2019s third and final season, but we thought it would be fun to get some actual high school students to do the interview instead, seeing as they\u2019re currently experiencing the same things as the characters in the show.<\/p>\n
We reached out to Newtown High and within minutes they came back to us with the names of two of their students who are superfans of the Aussie drama.<\/p>\n
Their teacher, Bel Macedone, called the two students into a meeting room and broke the news to them on camera that they were going to interview the cast of Netflix\u2019s Heartbreak High.<\/p>\n
They were visibly stunned.<\/p>\n
\u201cWait, like, the actual cast of Heartbreak High?\u201d one of the shocked students asked. <\/p>\n
\u201cOh my god, that\u2019s so exciting,\u201d said the other.<\/p>\n
The day of the interview<\/p>\n
The two students, Nika and Eloise, were a tad nervous as they arrived at the studio to interview seven of the Heartbreak High cast members.<\/p>\n
They sat in the green room, practising their questions and making last-minute adjustments, before being escorted into the studio.<\/p>\n
Now let me tell you, junket interviews can be quite intimidating, even for seasoned journalists.<\/p>\n
Imagine walking into a room filled with lights and cameras, a bunch of assistants, managers, PR people and makeup artists, not to mention your TV idols. <\/p>\n
It\u2019s a lot.<\/p>\n
But Nika and Eloise handled it like pros.<\/p>\n
The highlight of their interviews was when they asked the cast for advice about pranks they could pull on muck-up day.<\/p>\n
\u201cMuck-up week at my school was actually cancelled because the original ones were so bad,\u201d Thomas Weatherall, who plays Malakai, said. \u201cWe actually had cops outside our high school \u2026 to make sure no one does anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some of the previous pranks pulled at his school included when students put a mattress in the swimming pool.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt absorbs the water and you can\u2019t lift it up, you need a crane,\u201d Weatherall said. <\/p>\n
Bryn Chapman Parish, who plays Spider, said he\u2019d heard of students \u201cfeeding pigeons laxatives\u201d for a messy muck-up day prank.<\/p>\n
Gemma Chua-Tran, who plays Sasha, said, \u201cI know that someone hung a dummy from a balcony, which was really bad, because it [looked] like a dead kid\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u200aI think someone also brought \u2026 a cow \u2026 onto the third floor so they couldn\u2019t bring it back down,\u201d she added, \u201cIt was not good.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ayesha Madon, who plays Amerie, sensed that perhaps they were filling the students\u2019 heads with bad ideas, so she told the pair, \u201c\u200ayou guys should do whatever you want \u2026 as long as no one gets hurt and everything\u2019s safe \u2026 and legal.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut, like, be a menace,\u201d she laughed.<\/p>\n

The end of an era<\/p>\n
The third and final season of Heartbreak High follows the students of Hartley High as they attempt to graduate and enter adulthood.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not all smooth sailing though, with a \u2018revenge\u2019 prank on a rival school putting their futures in jeopardy.<\/p>\n
The season is a fitting finish to the Aussie series which has won a host of awards since 2022, including an International Emmy and AACTA Award for Best Drama Series.<\/p>\n
Season 3 is out now on Netflix.<\/p>\n
