ABC late-night host\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel\u00a0was called out for mocking newly confirmed Department of Homeland Security<\/a> (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin as an \u201cunqualified\u201d plumber during his monologue Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump\u2019s got a whole new generation of thinkers lined up, including his newly confirmed secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne<\/a> \u2018Chuck Mike Bruce Dave\u2019 Melon \u2014 Mullin. Maybe melon\u2019s better,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cHe\u2019s the now former senator of Oklahoma. Before he was elected to the Senate, Markwayne Mullin was a low-level MMA fighter and a plumber. That\u2019s right. We have a plumber protecting us from terrorism now. It worked for Super Mario. Why not Markwayne?\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cBut honestly \u2014 I mean, if Trump is going to keep picking these unqualified people to run the department, why not have more fun with it? I mean, next time instead of Markwayne, how about Lil Wayne for Homeland Security? At least we can get a concert out of it, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel\u2019s comments were viewed as elitist by many commentators on X, who accused the comedian of mocking working-class professions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe disdain for which the Democrats and Hollywood elites have for working class Americans \u2013 and folks who step up to do important jobs for their country \u2013 is shameful. These people need help,\u201d Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., wrote.<\/p>\n

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, joked, \u201cI prefer plumbers to woke & unfunny comedians.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI would much rather be protected by plumbers than lawyers,\u201d RealClearInvestigations senior writer Mark Hemingway agreed.<\/p>\n
