Jesse Ronson is headlining BKB 52: No Turning Back, which transpires on March 28th, and will be vying for Cub Hawkins\u2019 BKB Championship. To cement oneself as a champion is a massive accomplishment in and of itself, but there is a chance to become embedded even more into the history books, as Jesse Ronson said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m good, man. Training\u2019s going good. Very smooth. This is probably the sharpest I felt in a training camp probably ever. Like everything\u2019s just on. Speed is better than ever. Power is better than ever. Like what\u2019s really; my reactions, timing, and distance, it is ridiculous. It\u2019s like everybody who\u2019s watching and who\u2019s training with me, they\u2019re like, \u201cHoly,\u201d like it\u2019s ridiculous. It\u2019s like you turn 40 and it\u2019s you hit your prime all over again.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cLike I said, I\u2019ve never been like this on and I feel supremely confident and I\u2019m very measured and dialed in for this because everyone\u2019s like, \u201cWhat about the pressure?\u201d Of course it\u2019s my first world title fight versus a legend like Cub Hawkins who\u2019s like a two or three division world champion. He\u2019s like nine and one. Just beat a legend in Barrie Jones who I\u2019ve wanted to fight.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cSo it\u2019s a tall order, but again, to be the first Canadian ever to win a bare knuckle title. That belt is f***ing awesome [laughs]. The Police Gazette belt, it\u2019ll sit right right in front of me right here. I just want it so bad and it\u2019s just very motivating. So I\u2019m doing everything right. I\u2019m taking all the proper rest days that I need to take and training smart. Which I should have been doing my whole career, but yeah. No, it\u2019s better now than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n
After being asked if this optimized state comes from all the aforementioned factors being considered, Jesse Ronson stated [via Bare Knuckle Bowker<\/a>],<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just so incredibly motivating. I asked people because they\u2019re like, \u201cOh, are you sure you\u2019re going to be the first [Canadian] bare knuckle boxing champion in history?\u201d I\u2019m like if you can find another guy, I\u2019d like to know because it\u2019s like I haven\u2019t; if they if if there\u2019s been a Canadian champion, it hasn\u2019t been in my lifetime. Nobody knows who that is and I looked it up and I can\u2019t find anything.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cSo, it\u2019s; I can\u2019t even describe the feeling. I wish I could explain [to] the outside, like you\u2019re making history. Like a lot of people don\u2019t think it\u2019s a big deal. Some people think it\u2019s a huge deal, but it\u2019s like there\u2019s never been a bare knuckle Canadian champion. Like come on [laughs]. Like that\u2019s huge. Especially for me. Like everyone\u2019s like, \u201cOh, you started MMA. Don\u2019t you want to be an MMA world champion?\u201d I\u2019m like, \u201cBeing a world champion in itself is saying something because you\u2019re the best in the world at something.\u201d\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cNot a lot of people can say that. Now, to be able to say that I am the best in the world at 175 pounds bare knuckle boxing, people will be like well, what about Mike Perry<\/a>? What about Dave Mundell<\/a>? Well, if they want it, they can come get it. Just show me the f***ing money cuz I\u2019m sure BKB would love to do a co-promotion to make some money. But to do that and then be able to say that I\u2019m the first Canadian, millions of Canadians, like to be; oh it\u2019s just it\u2019s such an incredible feeling and it\u2019s just something that like there is no pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m going to go out there and I\u2019m going to f***ing win. It just; it feels so good. Like I feel like I can\u2019t lose because I\u2019m the first guy. I know there\u2019s people that have had title shots like Jade Masson-Wong. She had a title shot in BKFC. I\u2019m sure there\u2019s other Canadians that have had their opportunities, but it\u2019s like where they failed, I won\u2019t because I just; I feel over 20 years of my career and all my experience versus a guy like Cub Hawkins, I just feel like I can\u2019t lose. The universe won\u2019t let me lose. It\u2019s our time.
