The Bruins carded 4-under 276 through the first 18 holes, standing five strokes shy of third-place New Mexico and six strokes away from second-place Long Beach State. Stanford led the 30-team field after the first day of action, having shot 11-under 269.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nLooking at the individual leaders, Bruins&#8217; junior <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/alex-papayoanou\/15340\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15340\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Papayoanou<\/a> shot 2-under 68 (T-18) while senior <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/kyle-an\/15336\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15336\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle An<\/a> and freshman <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/josh-kim\/15343\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15343\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Kim<\/a> each finished at 1-under 69 (T-27).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nUCLA freshman <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/tyler-loree\/15344\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15344\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Loree<\/a> shot even par on Thursday (par 70) and sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/uclabruins.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/baylor-larrabee\/15339\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"15339\" target=\"_blank\">Baylor Larrabee<\/a> shot 4-over 74.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nPapayoanou had five birdies and three bogeys in the opening round. Kim finished with six birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Bruins will return to action with the second round scheduled for Friday, March 27. UCLA is expected to begin at approximately 8:05 a.m. (PT).
