A\ufeff popular Sydney bagel business has had the opening of its new CBD location spoiled after a swastika was uncovered etched into the glass.<\/p>\n
In an Instagram post, Lox in a Box revealed workers made the discovery after removing the paper on a glass window at their Paddington store set to open on April 9.<\/p>\n
“Yesterday, we proudly took the paper down. And today, we wanted to cover it all up again,” the post said.<\/p>\n
“This morning, we arrived to find a swastika etched into the glass.<\/p>\n
“I won’t pretend this didn’t shake me. Today really got to me.<\/p>\n
“We will not let this break us. We will not let it close our doors or dim the light of something we’ve worked so hard to build.<\/p>\n
“That is what hate wants, and we refuse to give it that.\n<\/p>\n
\n“Our people have survived too much to be shaken by the actions of a coward.”<\/p>\n
“\ufeffI am the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor, and today felt like a punch that landed deeper than most.”<\/p>\n
Lox in a Box is a proudly Jewish deli and bagel shop with multiple locations \ufeffacross Bondi, Marrickville and Coogee.<\/p>\n
