Savannah Guthrie<\/a> will return to the Today<\/a> Show on April 6. The anchor took an extended hiatus from the show following the disappearance of her mother, <\/a>Nancy Guthrie, in late January. After two months, she is returning with an awareness of how the harrowing situation <\/a>has changed her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if I can do it,\u201d Guthrie told Hoda Kotb in a recent interview. \u201cI don\u2019t know if I\u2019ll belong anymore, and I would like to try. I would like to try. But I\u2019m not going to be the same. But maybe it\u2019s like that old poem, \u2018More beautiful in the broken places.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Guthrie first joined Today in 2011 and took on the co-anchor role the following year. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to imagine doing it because it\u2019s such a place of joy and lightness, and I can\u2019t come back and try to be something that I\u2019m not,\u201d Guthrie said. \u201cBut I can\u2019t not come back, because it\u2019s my family. I think it\u2019s part of my purpose right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kotb completed her run on Today in 2025 after nearly 20 years. She previously worked alongside Guthrie as co-anchor for nearly a decade. She returned to the series to fill in for Guthrie as investigations continued into the disappearance of her mother. She also conducted Guthrie\u2019s first interview <\/a>since her family reported Nancy, 84, missing. She was last seen on Jan. 31.<\/p>\n

Since the disappearance, Guthrie has been in Arizona with her family. They offered a\u00a0$1 million reward<\/a>\u00a0for Nancy\u2019s return, which would be in addition to the\u00a0FBI\u2019s $100,000 reward<\/a>. The investigation has hinged largely on video footage taken by a doorbell camera that appeared to show an armed and masked man at Nancy\u2019s door the night she disappeared. Several\u00a0persons of interest<\/a>\u00a0have been detained<\/a>, and the FBI has reported receiving more than 13,000 tips about the abduction, but neither avenue has led to any significant leads.<\/p>\n
