Fernando Alonso has revealed that he was still suffering from vibrations behind the wheel of his Aston Martin on Saturday at the Japanese Grand Prix, despite the issue almost disappearing during the previous day.<\/p>\n
Vibrations from the Honda engine have plagued Aston Martin in the early stages of the current campaign, limiting its on-track mileage.<\/p>\n
Last time out in China, Alonso was forced to retire after the situation became too unbearable, causing him serious discomfort behind the wheel.<\/p>\n
It appeared a positive step forward was taken on Friday at Suzuka as Alonso suffered little to no vibrations, but bizarrely, they returned on Saturday, even though no changes were made to the car.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s still the biggest limiting factor,\u201d Alonso told the media, including RacingNews365.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday, the car felt completely normal, nearly no vibrations, so I was very positive.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis morning I jumped in the car, and I have the same vibrations as ever.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn’t change anything, so that was a little bit difficult to understand.\u201d<\/p>\n
Aston Martin’s development direction is being limited by its lack of on-track mileage, and its woes deepened in qualifying when it ended the session in 21st and 22nd.<\/p>\n
Alonso stated the team is going through all of its data from Friday to see if it can uncover why it did not have a vibration issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going through all the changes we did overnight to make sure that there was something yesterday on the car that was helping the vibrations,\u201d\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt seems like a bit of a random thing. So let’s see tomorrow.<\/p>\n
