Rachel Platten took the world by storm when she released \u201cFight Song\u201d in 2015, and even after 11 years, the song\u2019s impact hasn\u2019t wavered.<\/p>\n
\u201cFight Song\u201d has over a billion streams on Spotify, and Platten is more shocked than anyone. \u201cThis song that I wrote to remind myself not to give up after years of trying to make it in a career that seemed kind of impossible after like, 13 years, and it’s just wild to me that this little song that I wrote for myself has become a moment of strength for people in so many different circumstances,\u201d she told PauseRewind reporter Sabra Satz-Kojis.<\/p>\n
Often, people will tell Platten of the times they utilized the song as an anthem in their own lives. \u201cIt’s incredibly meaningful. It’s incredibly beautiful. It never gets old to hear the stories. I still hear them today,\u201d she said. \u201cPeople will pull me aside and just be like, \u2018I have to tell you I used this song in my battle with cancer.\u2019 Someone just yesterday said to me in the gym, came up to me and shared with me that his partner had passed away, and at the funeral they all sang \u2018Fight Song\u2019 together. It’s hard to put into words how meaningful that is.\u201d<\/p>\n
That being said, Platten also recognizes the less positive memories people may have about the song. \u201cI do also understand that people have like, some people had to like, write school projects on it and I fully apologize, I’m so sorry if any teachers made you do reports on it,\u201d she joked.<\/p>\n
