WINCHESTER, Mass. \u2013 The Boston University women’s tennis team (5-9, 3-0 PL) took down Navy (16-5, 2-1 PL) in a close 4-3 decision on Saturday evening at the Winchester Tennis Club. BU won the doubles point and secured the first three singles wins to remain unbeaten in league play.<\/p>\n
In doubles, sophomore Gabriella Mikaul<\/a> and junior Nancy Liu<\/a> posted a dominant\u00a06-3 win at the top of the lineup. They were backed by junior Blanka DeMicheli<\/a> and sophomore Madison Liu<\/a>, who teamed at line two to win 7-6 (3) and secure the doubles point for the Terriers. At line three, seniors Rhea Rai<\/a> and Emily Zhao<\/a> continued playing, winning in a 7-5 decision.<\/p>\n Singles saw BU take the first three wins at the Nos. 4, 1 and 5 spots, respectively. M. Liu won BU’s second point of the day with an efficient 6-1, 6-2 win. She was followed by Mikaul, whose 6-1, 6-4 win at the top of the lineup brought BU’s lead to 3-0. DeMicheli clinched the match for the Terriers after forcing a third set, winning 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 to help BU remain perfect in Patriot League play and simultaneously snapping Navy’s 11-match win streak.<\/p>\n The Terriers continue their weekend of play on Sunday (March 29) when they host Holy Cross at the Harvard Murr Center.
