James Blake<\/a>\u00a0has asked to\u00a0be taken\u00a0off the producer credits to\u00a0Kanye West<\/a>\u2019s new album \u2018Bully\u2019 as it is \u201cnot what I created\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ye premiered his 12th\u00a0studio album with a YouTube livestream yesterday (March 27) and as of today,\u00a0it has been available to listen to on most major streaming platforms<\/a>, including Spotify and Apple Music.<\/p>\n

The record includes production from a range of different artists, including 88-Keys and The Legendary Traxster, and on album closer \u2018This One Here\u2019, Blake is credited alongside Ye, Don Toliver<\/a>\u00a0and Quentin Miller.<\/p>\n

Now, though, Blake has revealed that he has\u00a0requested for\u00a0his name to be taken off the credits as he believes the \u201cspirit\u201d of his work has not been represented in the final record.<\/p>\n

Responding to a fan on Vault, Blake wrote: \u201cThe way I pitched his vocals and constructed the track from his freestyle is partially there, majorly peppered with other newervocal takes etc. but the spirit of my actual production is mostly absent other than that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cMy original version is a completely different production in spirit,\u201d he continued. \u201cHappy for the fans but\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0asked to be taken off the producer credits for now as I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0want to take credit for other people\u2019s work and this version\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0what I created with Ye.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blake went on to clarify: \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0not personal! I just hit a point where\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0want to be credited on music where I\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0affect\u00a0the end result.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blake and Ye have a long history\u00a0together, dating back to when\u00a0the rapper credited Blake as one of his favourite artists around the \u2018Yeezus\u2019 era in 2014<\/a>.\u00a0A year later, Blake\u00a0said that West would feature on \u2018The Colour In Anything\u2019<\/a>\u00a0(then titled \u2018Radio Silence.)<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething was supposed to happen; I don\u2019t really know how to describe how that didn\u2019t work out,\u201d Blake explained when the album arrived the following year, sans Ye. \u201cI wanted Kanye to be on the song \u2018Timeless\u2019,\u00a0but the verse\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0materialize.\u201d<\/p>\n

The\u00a0two went on to\u00a0work on a joint project known as \u2018WAR\u2019 in 2022<\/a>, but no music from that period was ever officially released.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Earlier today,\u00a0Ye has also shared the video for the single \u2018Father\u2019<\/a>,\u00a0which features\u00a0a verse from\u00a0Travis Scott<\/a>. The clip is directed by\u00a0Ye\u2019s wife Bianca\u00a0Censori\u00a0and it features a church setting populated by aliens and knights, with an unexplained\u00a0Michael Jackson<\/a>\u00a0sitting in the background.<\/p>\n

Announcing the\u00a0tracklist\u00a0earlier this week,\u00a0Ye said there was no AI used in its creation<\/a>, contradicting what he had said last year when he claimed that he had incorporated the technology into his writing process in \u201cthe same way I incorporated Auto-Tune\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u2018BULLY\u2019 was first announced by West two years ago<\/a>, and has seen a number of expected release dates come and go. Last June, he previewed it with the singles \u2018Preacher Man\u2019,\u00a0\u2018Beauty\u00a0And\u00a0The\u00a0Beast\u2019,\u00a0\u2018Damn\u2019 and \u2018Last Breath\u2019.<\/p>\n

Ye has also\u00a0announced an album launch show in Los Angeles, set for April 3,<\/a>\u00a0and confirmed more European dates for this year, marking his first headline dates on the continent in 12 years. He\u00a0is\u00a0yet to announce any UK shows for this year.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Ye shared\u00a0numerous highly controversial posts in early 2025<\/a>, when he took back an apology to the Jewish community for his previous anti-semitic remarks<\/a>, and declared himself \u201ca Nazi\u201d.\u00a0He later\u00a0said on X\/Twitter that, \u201cafter further reflection\u201d, he\u2019d \u201ccome to the realisation that I\u2019m not a Nazi\u201d<\/a>. But this was followed\u00a0only a few days later by yet more swastika apparel appearing on his X page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last November,\u00a0West held a meeting with a rabbi and apologised for his anti-Semitic comments<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Then, in January, Ye claimed that\u00a0his recent apology for his past anti-Semitic comments <\/a>was not about his forthcoming new album or an attempt to \u201crevive\u201d his career<\/a>.
