Raiders coach Ricky Stuart was frustrated with Corey Horsburgh\u2019s sin bin and took aim at his side for self destructing after their 34-22 loss to the Sharks, which saw them slip to 1-3 on the season. <\/p>\n

After winning the minor premiership last year by icing a lot of close games, the Raiders have been on the wrong side of them to start 2026 and lost to the Sharks after trailing 12-0 while Horsburgh was in the sin bin in the 3rd minute of the game. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re a good footy team, I\u2019ve got a football team there,\u201d Stuart said. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut our biggest issue is the self-destruction. It\u2019s happened three out of our last four games, that we\u2019re not giving ourselves an even chance to test ourselves against the opposition.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we\u2019ve been dealing with it, we spoke about it again just then after the game, and until we do, we won\u2019t win a game of footy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stuart was disappointed with Horsburgh being sin-binned so early in the game (3rd minute), but conceded it was the right call. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt put us under pressure,\u201d Stuart said. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the right call. It was a professional foul. And in the heat of the moment it is hard for players, but we\u2019ve got to be better.\u201d <\/p>\n

However, Stuart commended the passion in his team and challenged them to channel that into a more disciplined style of game. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s coming from trying too hard,\u201d Stuart said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the care in the guys in regards to wanting to win, but you\u2019ve got to balance that. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut I don\u2019t want them to lose it either. As long as they keep the effort there in regards to what they have got at the moment, we can keep building on it.\u201d <\/p>\n

Despite being down 12-0 and the Raiders fought back to make it 22-22 when Xavier Savage scored a stunning solo try and had their chances to win. <\/p>\n

Stuart never doubted his side would fight back and commended their spirit in defeat. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere was never a concern for me that we weren\u2019t going to keep fighting and try and come back into the contest, but it was massive head start for them,\u201d Stuart said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere were 12 points in the first four or five minutes. It was sort of on the back foot chasing from the start of the game. <\/p>\n

\u201cDifferent calculations come into the mind then when you\u2019re trying to play and trying to balance the game out, and you still know you\u2019re 12 behind, and I thought they did a really good job. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think we got back 18-12. We set up an opportunity for ourselves in the second half.\u201d<\/p>\n

Raiders skipper Joe Tapine called on his team to not panic and keep working hard and the results will turn. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe just have got to stick together and just go back to work and work hard,\u201d Tapine said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no point in us sulking over it.\u201d <\/p>\n
