The San Francisco 49ers and general manager John Lynch have some big decisions to make heading into the 2026 NFL Draft.

So far this offseason, the team has adopted an aggressive approach. They have signed star wide receiver Mike Evans to be a new No. 1 option for Brock Purdy. Dre Greenlaw was also signed to come back and be a key part of the 49ers’ defense once again.

Plenty of other moves have been made as well, but those are the two headline additions.

Keeping that in mind, there are questions about what San Francisco could target in the NFL Draft next month. There are still a few needs for the 49ers to address. It’s possible that the 49ers have revealed a major hint about their plans for the draft.

49ers May Have Revealed Major Hint at NFL Draft Plans

At this point in the offseason, teams are taking time to meet with NFL Draft prospects. San Francisco has shown interest in a few different players so far.

Lynch and the 49ers have already had four visits with wide receivers. Those wideouts are Washington’s Denzel Boston, SMU’s Jordan Hudson, Texas A&M’s KC Concepcion, and Indiana’s Omar Cooper Jr.

Even after signing Evans, it is very clear that the team is interested in adding more offensive firepower. Three of those wide receivers are expected to be potential first-round picks. Boston, Cooper, and Concepcion have all been mocked in the first round.

San Francisco seems to be seriously considering the idea of targeting offense with the No. 27 overall pick.

Investing in Brock Purdy Is a Wise Decision for San Francisco

Last season, it was clear that the 49ers badly needed to address the wide receiver situation this offseason. With both Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings likely leaving town, that need became even more clear.

Evans was an excellent addition on a three-year, $60.4 million deal. However, the reality of the situation is that he is 32 years old and there is a chance that he could regress some over the next couple of seasons.

Bringing in a young wideout capable of being a key playmaker for Purdy would be wise.

Purdy is one of the more talented quarterbacks in the NFL. He has had some injury issues recently, but when he’s healthy he’s a top-tier franchise signal caller. Giving him as much help as possible is always a good investment to make.

Keep an eye on San Francisco as a potential fit for first-round wide receivers. Lynch and the 49ers could choose to go in another direction, but their draft visits suggest the position being a strong consideration ahead of the NFL Draft.

Evan Massey Evan Massey is a sports reporter and analyst located in Indianapolis, Indiana who covers the NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA, and college sports.
