\n\t\u201cProject Hail Mary<\/a>\u201d is officially Amazon MGM<\/a>\u2018s highest-grossing film ever. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe space odyssey has grossed $300.8 million globally after earning another $54.1 million\u00a0from 86 markets this weekend. That easily tops the $276 million worldwide gross of 2023\u2019s\u00a0\u201cCreed III,\u201d which had previously been the company\u2019s top earner (Amazon acquired MGM in 2022 for $8.5 billion). <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cProject Hail Mary\u201d stars Ryan Gosling as a high school teacher enlisted to save the world. It did particularly well this weekend in the United Kingdom ($6.3 million), China ($7.7 million), Australia ($3.8 million), South Korea ($3.3 million) and Germany ($3.4 million). Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed the film, which is based on a novel by Andy Weir. It carries a production budget of $200 million. <\/p>\n

\n\tDisney and Pixar\u2019s \u201cHoppers\u201d also performed well internationally. The family film added $37 million globally to its haul this weekend, $24.8 million of which came from foreign markets. Its worldwide gross currently sits at $297.6 million and should cross the $300 million mark early next week. Pixar spent $150 million on the movie. <\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere, Paramount\u2019s \u201cScream 7<\/a>\u201d crossed the $200 million mark after earning $6.3 million globally this weekend. Its worldwide earnings stand at $204 million, which is a good result considering its $45 million budget. <\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal\u2019s \u201cReminders of Him\u201d added $9.6 million to its global total, bringing its haul to $69.4 million. The Colleen Hoover adaptation is shaping up to be a modest hit for the studio, which spent $25 million on the romantic drama. The novelist also wrote \u201cRegretting You\u201d and \u201cIt Ends With Us,\u201d both of which inspired hit movies. <\/p>\n

\n\tAnd pity poor Warner Bros. and New Line, which saw \u201cThey Will Kill You\u201d collapse at the global box office with a paltry $9 million debut, $4 million of which came from 66 foreign markets. The horror film stars Zazie Beetz as a housekeeper who works in a sinister high-rise apartment. It cost $20 million to produce, so the losses shouldn\u2019t be too devastating. \u201cThey Will Kill You\u201d was co-financed by David Ellison\u2019s genre label Nocturna, in a collaboration that was hatched long before the mogul\u2019s recent agreement to buy Warner Bros. and merge it with Paramount.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cProject Hail Mary\u201d is officially Amazon MGM\u2018s highest-grossing film ever.
