 Mr Kanofski said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;We&#8217;re not going to profit from this arrangement, it&#8217;s simply a mechanism to try and recover the additional costs that we&#8217;re incurring.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mr Kanofski said the company had already experienced a drop in bookings since the start of the war in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re seeing substantial increases in cancellations already over the past month and the softening of sales as well,&#8221;  he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">TT-Line was already in a dire financial position before the increase in fuel costs, with Tasmania&#8217;s auditor-general declaring the company insolvent last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The company said it will regularly review the measure and work to remove the levy at the earliest opportunity.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A large red and white ship pulls out of port.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/befdd77ddd8dcdd443c864d72c5c4d3d.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The company says it&#8217;s a temporary measure and will be reviewed regularly.\u00a0 (Supplied: RMC)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">However, it has flagged the possibility of the surcharge being kept &#8220;at some level&#8221;
