Mental health day resource centre services in Cornwall will end this week, with Cornwall Council<\/a> saying the closures are part of “wider changes to how support is provided locally”.<\/p>\n Cornwall Council-owned buildings in Camborne<\/a>, Truro<\/a>, Falmouth<\/a>, Penzance<\/a>, St Austell<\/a> and Bude<\/a> will close tomorrow (Tuesday, March 31). Mental health day centres had previously operated at ten sites across Cornwall.<\/p>\n Cornwall Partnership NHS<\/a> Foundation Trust told CornwallLive<\/a> that a new provider had been appointed by the council to deliver a redesigned service from Wednesday (April 1). However, the trust has been informed that the provider has withdrawn.<\/p>\n The council says everyone currently using the services is being supported to access suitable alternatives in their local area from Wednesday, including a personal review of the support they receive.<\/p>\n Cornwall<\/a> Partnership NHS Foundation Trust sites in Launceston<\/a> and Liskeard<\/a> will continue to serve as a base for other community mental health services.<\/p>\n To see all the planning applications, traffic diversions, road layout changes, alcohol licence applications and more in your area, visit the Public Notice Portal HERE<\/a><\/p>\n A spokesperson for Cornwall Council said that while the future of trust-owned buildings in Bodmin<\/a> and Newquay<\/a> is yet to be determined, the trust works closely with nearby sites that provide mental health day activities such as Newquay Orchard.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the NHS Foundation Trust told us: “The trust has provided mental health day resource centre services on behalf of Cornwall Council since the early 2000s.<\/p>\n “Following a review of those services, we were notified that the current agreement between the trust and the council will end on March 31.<\/p>\n “We were initially informed a new provider had been appointed by the council to deliver a redesigned service from April 1. However, we have now been informed the provider has withdrawn.<\/p>\n “We are writing to service users to keep them informed and ensure they continue to receive support from services the council already commissions.”<\/p>\n The spokesperson asked us to contact Cornwall Council for an update on the current position.<\/p>\n A representative of the council told us: “We know some of the existing centres are old and not the best environment for delivering the person-centred, recovery-focused support, close to home, that service users told us they value during recent engagement.<\/p>\n “This change is not about withdrawing funding or support.
