\u201cHe was alert enough to say goodbye to his little girl, whom he has treasured every moment since the day she was born,\u201d Steele continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are devastated, but so grateful for the support, prayers and generosity you have all shown during this unimaginable time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Steele wrote on Friday that Duong\u2019s health had taken a turn for the worse.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has gone into septic shock, a severe and life-threatening infection that has overwhelmed his body,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHe is in the hospital, and the situation is critical. Everything has changed so quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the time, she asked for donations to go toward emergency medical care and hospital costs, rent, food and basic living expenses.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Steele said the family was \u201coverwhelmed with gratitude\u201d over the outpouring of support following the announcement of his passing.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease keep Alex and his family in your prayers,\u201d she wrote. \u201cYour support is carrying them through the hardest time of their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
In 2025, Duong \u2014 best know for his appearances on the TV show Blue Bloods \u2014 was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer affecting soft tissue.<\/p>\n
According to the Cleveland Clinic, the condition typically affects older children, teenagers and adults between the ages of 20 and 35, and the cancer is aggressive, spreading quickly after it develops.<\/p>\n
Duong\u2019s credits include appearances on Dexter, Everybody Hates Chris, 90210, The Young and the Restless and Pretty Little Liars.<\/p>\n
