The Pixel Watch has a new-to-it feature that alerts you if you\u2019ve left your phone behind. Even if it\u2019s the option is a little late to the party, you\u2019re going to want to turn it on.<\/p>\n
The \u201cnotify when left behind\u201d function is nothing new; however, the Pixel Watch series only recently received an update to incorporate Google\u2019s version. The Pixel Watch Feature Drop<\/a> for March 2026 combined that function with several other additions, like an easier tap-to-pay system for transit.<\/p>\n Left-behind alerts appear when the paired phone starts to get out of range of the Pixel Watch<\/a> and Bluetooth disconnects. While it may not always be indicative of a phone that\u2019s on the verge of disappearing, it\u2019s a useful tool to have in your back pocket.<\/p>\n When your phone disconnects, it will lock. Anyone who picks it up won\u2019t be able to access your information. Whenever the Pixel Watch and phone get back in range of each other, and the phone is unlocked, the connection goes back to normal, and Smart Lock resumes operation.<\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n Google says \u201cnotify when left behind\u201d works on the Pixel Watch 2 and later.<\/p>\n If you haven\u2019t already, you\u2019ll want to enable the new option. There doesn\u2019t seem to be a downside, unless you tend to straddle the Pixel Watch\u2019s effective range on a regular basis. For those who have their phone with them always, it\u2019s a highly recommended safety feature.<\/p>\n How to enable Pixel Watch\u2019s left-behind alerts<\/p>\n On your connected phone, open the Pixel Watch app.<\/p>\n Find and tap Watch preferences.<\/p>\n In the Security page, open Notify when left behind.<\/p>\n Toggle the feature on.<\/p>\n You can also toggle on Lock phone when left behind to ensure that your device isn\u2019t being opened while unattended.<\/p>\n The feature doesn\u2019t turn on by default, so you\u2019ll want to make sure you\u2019re going through the steps to turn it on.
