{"id":575364,"date":"2026-03-31T02:02:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T02:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/575364\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T02:02:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T02:02:16","slug":"dick-johnson-racing-ford-sierra-djr6-set-to-race-again-after-significant-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/575364\/","title":{"rendered":"Dick Johnson Racing Ford Sierra DJR6 set to race again after significant fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE finishing touches are being applied to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-250-Dick-Johnson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dick Johnson<\/a> Racing Ford Sierra, chassis DJR6, following a significant fire, with the car set to return to the track in the NZ Historic Touring Car support races at the Christchurch Supercars round.<\/p>\n<p>The car suffered significant damage last year in a fire at the George Begg Festival at Teretonga, as driven by its custodian, Lance Coupland.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-issue-3?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/v8sleuth-mag-issue3_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>DJR6 was the final Sierra produced by the team and debuted at the 1990 Sandown 500.<\/p>\n<p>In its life, the car carried both numbers 17 and 18, before ultimately winning the NZ Nissan-Mobil 500 series pointscore at the end of 1992 with drivers Paul Radisich and Michael Preston.<\/p>\n<p>The car passed through multiple hands in Australia before landing with Coupland in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The imminent return to racing follows in the wheel tracks of DJR4, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/dick-johnson-title-winner-returns-to-the-track\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">which hit the track at the recent Phillip Island Penrite 100 Classic<\/a>, as driven by Terry Lawlor, who, coincidentally, used to own DJR6.<\/p>\n<p>The NZ Touring Cars draws together an eclectic mix of genuine touring cars from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of Group A cars, the entry on the Supercars undercard is likely to include Super Tourers, Group C cars, and early 5 Litre Group A V8s amongst others.<\/p>\n<p>The ITM Christchurch Super 440 is scheduled for April 17-19, with the event set to also feature NZ Formula Ford and the Summerset GT New Zealand Championship.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"THE finishing touches are being applied to Dick Johnson Racing Ford Sierra, chassis DJR6, following a significant fire,&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":575365,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[572],"tags":[64,63,806,805,803,804,85],"class_list":["post-575364","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-motosport","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-motor","tag-motor-sports","tag-motosport","tag-motosports","tag-sports"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/575364","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=575364"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/575364\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/575365"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=575364"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=575364"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=575364"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
