I don’t have to tell you that the differences are relatively miniscule, but the reason in which things turned out the way they did are kind of shocking.<\/p>\n

Bello, in what would prove to be the final inning of his season debut, was forced to continue pitching despite recording the third out in the bottom of the fifth inning, which eventually led to a walk that forced him out of the game in a 9-2 loss at Daikin Park. Bello forced three consecutive whiffs out of Astros outfielder Cam Smith, but after his club combined for two errors following the second pitch of the sequence, no one seemed to notice…<\/p>\n

Bello talked about the odd occurrence following the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI asked him because I thought the first pitch was a strike and that he swung at the second pitch, but none of that took me out of my focus in that inning,” Bello said through translator Carlos Villoria, as seen on NESN. “I tried to get out of that inning, but it didn\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Red Sox didn’t end up losing because of the sequence, but they certainly could have afforded to get out of that inning sooner than they did. Bello probably would have appreciated the strikeout, anyway.<\/p>\n
