(ABC News)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;As a result there has been two shots fired by one of the male officers,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Superintendent Massingham said the man was struck twice in the abdomen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Officers provided first aid at the scene before he was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Superintendent Massingham said the call for assistance had come from the man&#8217;s mother, who was present during the shooting, and that the man had previously received mental health treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Mum is distressed, she&#8217;s traumatised,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Police on a suburban street\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/e952cf932c7b0e370a07d775eb39a318.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Officers were attending an address for a welfare check, police said.
