{"id":57836,"date":"2025-08-10T14:48:02","date_gmt":"2025-08-10T14:48:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/57836\/"},"modified":"2025-08-10T14:48:02","modified_gmt":"2025-08-10T14:48:02","slug":"charles-leclerc-ferrari-willing-to-sacrifice-extra-f1-wind-tunnel-time-for-highest-2025-finish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/57836\/","title":{"rendered":"Charles Leclerc: Ferrari willing to sacrifice extra F1 wind tunnel time for highest 2025 finish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/tag\/leclerc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Charles Leclerc<\/a> is clear about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/tag\/ferrari\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ferrari\u2019s<\/a> priority for the 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/tag\/f1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1<\/a> season: finishing as high as possible, even if it means sacrificing valuable wind tunnel testing hours.<\/p>\n<p>The Monegasque driver insists the team must aim for the best immediate results on track, rather than worry about potential development restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Under the 2025 F1 regulations, aerodynamic testing allowances were recalculated based on the previous season\u2019s Constructors\u2019 Championship. <\/p>\n<p>The teams that are higher up the table have to deal with reduced wind tunnel and CFD testing hours, designed to level development opportunities across the grid.<\/p>\n<p>For Ferrari, currently fighting tightly with Mercedes for second place, pushing for that higher spot comes with the knowledge it could mean fewer testing hours next year \u2013 a potential handicap for future car development.<\/p>\n<p>A mid-season reset last month worked in the Scuderia\u2019s favour, granting the team 16 extra wind tunnel runs and 100 additional CFD tests.<\/p>\n<p>When asked whether securing second place in the Constructors\u2019 Championship is worth sacrificing valuable wind tunnel time next season, Leclerc was clear on where his focus lies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m pretty sure it\u2019s better to finish second than third,\u201d he told the media including Motorsport Week. \u201cHowever, as you said, there\u2019s also the wind tunnel time. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not something we think of too much. When we are on track, we just want to finish as high up as possible and then we\u2019ll deal with whatever amount of hours in the wind tunnel we have.
