A teen driver was rushed to hospital following the NASCAR<\/a> Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen after he fell from his car and broke his collarbone while celebrating his victory.<\/p>\n

It was a frightening ending to Connor Zilisch’s time at Watkins Glen as he was escorted from the venue in an ambulance after his celebrations took a sour turn.<\/p>\n

Celebrating his race win at the event, the 19-year-old placed one foot on the roof of the car and the other on the window when he slipped on the netting below him.<\/p>\n

The sudden fall left Zilisch motionless on the ground, having landed head first, with live footage of the event was quickly cut to a commercial break.<\/p>\n

On return, reporters confirmed Zilisch was being treated by medical staff.<\/p>\n

He was later stretched off the Victory Lane and into the infield care centre where he was reportedly “awake and alert”. Zilisch was then taken to hospital for further assessment.<\/p>\n

JR Motorsports confirmed on Sunday (AEST) that Zilisch had been released from hospital. <\/p>\n

The young talent then took to X to thank the medics who were on site at the time.<\/p>\n

“Thank you everybody for reaching out,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

“I’m out of hospital and getting better already. Thankfully, CT scans for my head are clear. I just have a broken collarbone.<\/p>\n

“Thankful for all the medics for quick attention and grateful it wasn’t any worse.”<\/p>\n
