NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster tennis team\u2019s spring break trip across Europe\u00a0turned into way more than just a team trip.\u00a0Making stops in Nice, France; Genoa, Italy; Monte Carlo, Monaco; Morocco; Rome, Italy; and Vatican City\u00a0allowed for the team to\u00a0explore\u00a0some of the world\u2019s most famous places while also\u00a0increasing team chemistry.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe trip to Europe was nothing short of astonishing, but Rome in particular was incredible,\u201d said graduate student, Rick\u00a0Ladjevich. \u201cTo see the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, and St. Peter\u2019s Basilica…\u00a0it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I\u2019m extremely grateful for.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Even with all the history and sightseeing, a lot of players said the best part\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0just where they went, but\u00a0who they\u00a0got to experience\u00a0it with.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI had an amazing time in Europe with the tennis team,\u201d said junior, Hayne Webster. \u201cTraining trips bring people closer together, but with this group,\u00a0we really did forge friendships that will transcend our time at Westminster.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0forever grateful for this trip and thankful to Coach Blasko for making it possible.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom all the team meals to all of the sightseeing, I feel like our team truly bonded and created a trip we\u2019ll remember for years to come,\u201d senior, Colin Fabich said.\u00a0\u201cEven without playing tennis at times due to rainouts, we still made the trip super fun.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
For\u00a0senior tennis player\u00a0Christine Rossi, it was the overall experience that stood out\u00a0to her.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSpring\u00a0break\u00a0in Europe was an unbelievable experience,\u201d Rossi said. \u201cBeing able to travel with my teammates and friends is something\u00a0I\u2019ll\u00a0always cherish. There were so many laughs that brought our team together.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
She also appreciated the everyday parts of the trip. \u201cI loved just walking through the streets and seeing how people live day-to-day just as much as the tours,\u201d Rossi said. \u201cEverything had so much history and really cool architecture.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Freshman tennis player, Megan Blasko, who was traveling overseas for the first time, said the trip exceeded\u00a0her\u00a0expectations. \u201cIt was such an amazing experience,\u201d she said. \u201cI got to see landmarks in Rome and the Vatican, walk along the beach in France, and become closer with my team.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
She also highlighted some of the fun cultural moments\u00a0that the team got the unique privilege of experiencing together. \u201cWe talked to people from different cultures and even ran into some Americans at restaurants,\u201d Blasko said. \u201cAnd honestly, we never got sick of the pizza and pasta.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Like many of her teammates, she came back\u00a0with\u00a0the same takeaway\u00a0from the trip. \u201cThe best part of the trip\u00a0was getting\u00a0to experience everything with my teammates,\u201d Blasko said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
