The Sydney Royal Easter Show is back for another year, with more than 850,000 people expected to attend.<\/p>\n

A number of new rides and activities are expected to freshen up the program, with budget-friendly options also available for families affected by cost-of-living pressures.<\/p>\n

Surging fuel prices are not expected to affect the experience, with show spokesman Murray Wilton confirming all registered exhibitors will be attending.<\/p>\n

“Not one exhibitor has pulled out of the Sydney Royal Easter Show,” he said.<\/p>\n

“They’ve been in months of planning and they need to be here.”<\/p>\n

Here is everything you need to know about attending the show over the next fortnight.<\/p>\n

Key dates and times\u00a0<\/p>\n

The show runs from Thursday, April 2 until Monday, April 13, with gates opening at 8:30am daily.<\/p>\n

Most pavilions open from about 9am.<\/p>\n

The show will end each night with a fireworks display at 8:50pm.<\/p>\n

How to get there<\/p>\n

Organisers recommend using public transport to visit the showground, located at Sydney Olympic Park.<\/p>\n

There will be additional trains and special event buses servicing the venue throughout the show to accommodate commuters.<\/p>\n

Tickets will cover entry to the show and the cost of public transport.<\/p>\n

Those who have to drive are advised to allow additional time for traffic delays and must pre-book venue parking<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pre-booked parking costs $35 for the whole day.<\/p>\n

Parking for Good Friday on April 3 has already booked out, with spaces selling fast for the Easter long weekend.<\/p>\n

Anyone travelling from the central west may also be affected by detours due to the closure of Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass.<\/a><\/p>\n

Taxis will be available at Herb Elliott Avenue until 5pm, and on Murray Rose Avenue from 5pm to 11pm.<\/p>\n

Ticket pricing<\/p>\n

If booking online, tickets cost $50 for adults, $31.50 for children and people with a disability, $38 for concession card holders, and $144 for a family of two adults and two kids.<\/p>\n

A limited number of tickets may be available at the gate, but these will cost a little more.<\/p>\n

Entry is free for children under the age of three.<\/p>\n

Tickets will be discounted to $26 for seniors on April 9, and $18 for children on April 13 with a two-for-one deal on carnival ride tickets for kids for most attractions until 4pm that day.<\/p>\n

Discounted tickets for entry after 4pm have been made available, with the sale to end at midnight on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

What’s new?<\/p>\n

The most significant difference to this year’s schedule will be the variety of new activities and displays during the evening.<\/p>\n

These include a daily light parade, art installations and on-stage entertainment.<\/p>\n

New rides added into the rotation include the Lunarix which swings 25 metres into the air and rotates 360 degrees.<\/p>\n

A selection of new eateries and food experiences will also be on offer, including a barbecue precinct inspired by the streets of Nashville, an Asian food market, oyster masterclasses and a cocktail bar.<\/p>\n

Iconic highlights<\/p>\n

Some of the events at the show have been entertaining visitors for more than 100 years.<\/p>\n

The grand parade will showcase award-winning animals throughout the 12-day program at ENGIE Stadium.<\/p>\n

Growers will show the best of New South Wales’s fresh produce during district exhibits at the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome daily.<\/p>\n

In a tradition dating back to 1907, mounted police officers and their horses will run precision drills at ENGIE Stadium.<\/p>\n

Plus, the always-entertaining woodchopping and sawing competitions will return again to the show schedule.<\/p>\n

Showbag tips\"A<\/p>\n

The showbag pavilion will be open between 9:30am and 9:30pm daily.<\/p>\n

The bags of show treats range from $5 to $38, with more than 80 under $10.<\/p>\n

The Bertie Beetle Blue Showbag is the most affordable option at $5, with a number of Cadbury chocolate bags available for $6.<\/p>\n

All-day lockers are available opposite the pavilion to store bags and other valuables for between $14 and $23.<\/p>\n

Free activities<\/p>\n

There are more than 100 free activities and displays on offer at the show this year.<\/p>\n

The farmyard nursery promises entertainment for animal lovers, with scores of free animal shows and competitions scheduled.<\/p>\n

The amphitheatre will host a number of free shows and events, including an Australian citizenship ceremony at 10am on April 7, an interactive Bluey experience on April 13, and music and dance concerts.<\/p>\n

A number of educational workshops and activities will be held at the flower and garden pavilion, including cupcake making, headband decorating and a scarecrow competition.<\/p>\n
