This watch, once designed by no other than Gerald Genta, was first presented in 1979, before coming back in a modernised and limited version for the brand’s 50th anniversary in 2024. Last year, Credor introduced a green dial version of the Locomotive, the reference GCCR997, this time as part of the permanent collection. It is now joined by the reference GCCR995, with a new “dawn blue” dial, a classic colour for the luxury sports watch genre.

The modern Credor Locomotive is a faithful recreation of Gérald Genta‘s original 1978 sketch. While Genta is best known for designing the iconic Royal Oak, Nautilus, and Ingenieur, his creative vision extended far beyond Europe. Frequent visits to Japan led to a friendship with Seiko’s Reijiro Hattori, who invited him to design a distinctive timepiece for Credor, part of Seiko’s portfolio. The result was the Locomotive, first introduced to the public in 1979.

Following the grey limited edition GCCR999 and last year’s green permanent model GCCR997, both made of titanium and sharing the same technical base, it is time for a third version to appear. Known as the reference GCCR995, the latest edition is just about the dial colour, as everything else we’ve come to know from the “new” Locomotive has been kept. As such, it retains the same 38.8mm by 8.9mm hexagonal case crafted from high-intensity titanium, offering 100m of water-resistance, dominated by a hexagonal geometry, which is found on the bezel secured by six hexagonal screws, as well as the ribbed crown with a hexagonal motif. The caseback is still closed and the dial protected by a sapphire crystal.

Talking about the dial, this is where things become different. Relying on the same pattern as the green edition, with its textured pattern of small hexagons, each with a striped, woven-like finish, creating a shimmering honeycomb effect, the new Locomotive GCCR995 introduces a so-called “dawn blue” tone, a classic of the genre with a certain twist. Not as dark as usually found on luxury sports watches, it “evokes the pale blue sky at the hour when the long night ends and a new day begins, suggesting the Locomotive’s bright future.” This soft colour is still paired with the same framed date window, and “baignoire-shaped” applied markers and hands (a classic of Genta’s design language).

Inside the titanium case is the Credor-exclusive automatic calibre CR01, built on the slim Seiko 6L35 architecture. It features 26 jewels, operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour, and delivers a 45-hour power reserve. The integrated high-intensity titanium bracelet mirrors the watch’s design. It starts nearly as wide as the case before tapering slightly toward the three-fold clasp with a push-button release. Its hexagonal mid-links reinforce the watch’s geometric theme.

Available as of June 2026 and expected to be part of the permanent collection, the new Credor Locomotive Dawn Blue GCCR995 will be priced at JPY 1,980,000, slightly more than the green version of last year (which was JPY 1,870,000).
