Image: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>Holding significant history in the Australian motorsport landscape, the returning name will replace the APC Enduro Championship moniker.<\/p>\n<p>The new name exemplifies the change made ahead of this season to move to an all-enduro calendar, adding prestige to the five-round series.<\/p>\n<p>First contested during the Group C era of Australian touring cars in 1981, future champions will join an exclusive list of drivers.<\/p>\n<p>Previous winners include all-time greats such as Allan Moffat, Jim Richards, Peter McLeod, and Glenn Seton, and modern stars like Grant Denyer, Tony D\u2019Alberto, and Garth Tander.<\/p>\n<p>The championship has gone through several iterations, first contested by touring cars, before moving to production cars and finally a GT era.<\/p>\n<p>It was last contested by production cars in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBringing back the Australian Endurance Championship name is a significant step and reflects where the category is heading,\u201d said category manager Paul Buccini.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s strong momentum, and this aligns with the level of cars, competition and professionalism we\u2019re building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur focus is on delivering true endurance racing, and this sets the tone for a big 2026 season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first four rounds will be contested as part of the AASA Hi-Tec Oils Super Series, before a standalone six-hour event at Sandown for the season finale.<\/p>\n<p>Australian Endurance Championship 2026 Calendar<br \/>Round 1 \u2013 Ipswich 3 Hour \u2013 May 1-2 \u2013 Queensland Raceway<br \/>Round 2 \u2013 Sydney 3 Hour \u2013 July 17-18 \u2013 Sydney Motorsport Park<br \/>Round 3 \u2013 Fight in the Night \u2013 Aug 14-15 \u2013 Queensland Raceway<br \/>Round 4 \u2013 Winton 3 Hour \u2013 Sept 25-26 \u2013 Winton<br \/>Round 5 \u2013 AASA 6 Hours of Sandown \u2013 Dec 6-7 \u2013 Sandown<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Australian Endurance Championship name will be revived for production cars.
