LOUISVILLE, Ky. \u2014 Bellarmine men’s tennis dropped a 4-1 decision on the road at Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Colonels secured the early advantage by sweeping the doubles point, taking courts one and two by identical 6-2 scores to move ahead 1-0. The third doubles match was left unfinished.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In singles play, Matthew Nice<\/a> delivered the lone point for the Knights with a strong performance at the top spot. Nice defeated EKU’s Nuno Pinheiro in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, to even the match briefly and highlight Bellarmine’s effort on the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n Eastern Kentucky responded by claiming the remaining completed singles matches. Eli Wood<\/a> and Ryan Perkins each fell in straight sets, while Alex English<\/a> was forced to retire in his match.
