\u2018Sizdah Bedar\u2019 is one of the most popular, joyful, and colorful Persian festivities.<\/p>\n On Thursday, Iranians celebrated \u201cSizdah Bedar,\u201d the Persian Nature Day, by picnicking in parks and taking walks in the countryside, all amid the ongoing threat of U.S.-Israeli bombings.<\/p>\n RELATED:<\/p>\n Opposition Among U.S. Citizens to the War on Iran is Growing<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cSizdah Bedar\u201d is one of Iran\u2019s most popular, joyful, and colorful Persian festivities. It takes place on the 13th day of the month of Farvardin in the Iranian calendar, marking the end of the Nowruz holidays, the Persian New Year, which began on March 19.<\/p>\n Thousands of Iranians effectively moved their living rooms to parks, squares, or the countryside to spend the day eating, playing, resting and enjoying the outdoors.<\/p>\n One such place was Mellat Park in Tehran, where numerous families gathered amid the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran that began Feb. 28.<\/p>\n \u201cWe take advantage of Nature Day to bring the children to the park so they can play for a while, have fun and relax,\u201d said Mohsen, a painter.<\/p>\n The 38-year-old man said children were frightened by the bombings during the war\u2019s first days but have now become accustomed after 34 days of foreign attacks.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have to carry on with life. We cannot stay locked at home until the war ends, and no one knows exactly when it will end,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Today is Sizdah Bedar, the 13th day of Nowruz, the Persian New Year, when people traditionally spend the day outdoors with family and friends. <\/p>\n It\u2019s a day to enjoy nature, have picnics and symbolically let go of the bad luck of the past year. \ud83c\udf3f#Iran<\/a> pic.twitter.com\/9K4LbBx3an<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 A. (@afsixo) April 2, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n Arsalan, a 48-year-old accountant, said he is not afraid and went to the park \u201cas every year, to spend a good time with family on this day that is important for every Iranian.\u201d<\/p>\n He believes his country has strong armed forces that will give an appropriate response to the U.S.-Israeli offensive. \u201cIran will prevail,\u201d Arsalan emphasized.<\/p>\n At Mellat Park, entire families gathered, played badminton, and prepared barbecues, all in a relaxed atmosphere. They also observed traditions such as planting a tree and tying \u201cknots\u201d with sprouts of grains and legumes.<\/p>\n For Iranians, having plants at home from the first day of the Persian New Year (March 21) symbolizes rebirth and the opportunity to make a wish.<\/p>\n Earlier, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Jamenei, called on the Iranian nation to take part in a broad campaign to plant saplings across the country.<\/p>\n He described the initiative as a symbol of hope, development and national resilience, as trees represent life, continuity and the strength of the Persian nation.<\/p>\n The tree-planting campaign was presented as a form of mourning and, at the same time, as an affirmation of the future in the face of adversity.<\/p>\n #FromTheSouth<\/a> News Bits | Top diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and T\u00fcrkiye arrived in Islamabad for two days of high-level talks with their Pakistani counterparts.
