Nick Daicos has been ruled out of Collingwood\u2019s Thursday night blockbuster against the Brisbane Lions in a devastating blow for the Pies.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the contest at the Gabba, all eyes were locked in on Daicos as he underwent a fitness test.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old was seen slowly jogging his way across the turf with a bandage wrapped around his right calf.<\/p>\n

Daicos suffered a corkie last week and was limited in the build up to the preliminary final rematch.<\/p>\n

Footage of him running around the Gabba raised eyebrows with Collingwood coach Craig McRae admitting he was uncertain if he would take his place in the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he was a horse you wouldn\u2019t back him. He had some treatment. He has to get through this warm up but we will give him one last chance,\u201d McRae told Fox Footy.<\/p>\n

Around 15 minutes before the opening bounce, Daicos was officially withdrawn from the contest with Ed Allan coming in.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a huge out \u2013 all eyes were on Nick Daicos in the warm up,\u201d Ben Dixon said from the Gabba.<\/p>\n

\u201cWas really struggling to run, didn\u2019t look well at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a bit strange they\u2019d bring him up here on a Thursday night. Still no improvement in his ability to run.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before he was withdrawn from the team list, AFL greats Jason Dunstall and David King believed if he was to play he\u2019d be spending more time deep in the forward line.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wouldn\u2019t be out there doing the warm up if there was a dangerous risk involved in this,\u201d Jason Dunstall said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat it might do is it might mean more minutes at full forward \u2013 he\u2019s a threat down there,\u2019 David King added.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t look right.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s certainly not hitting top speed,\u201d Dunstall said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis would be a disaster if he doesn\u2019t take his spot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jon Ralph added: \u201cIf you rush him (Daicos) and all of a sudden he\u2019s out for four to six weeks, that would be catastrophic.\u201d<\/p>\n
