<\/p>\n TROY, Ala. \u2013 Alabama State dropped a 5-2 decision to Troy on Thursday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, despite claiming the doubles point and picking up a singles victory.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n The Hornets opened the match strong by securing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. The tandem of Matteo Lataste<\/a> and Martin Catrice<\/a> earned a 6-3 victory, while Milan Ristov<\/a> and Eloi Roux<\/a> battled to a 7-6 (7-2) win to give Alabama State the early 1-0 advantage.<\/p>\n
Troy responded in singles play, winning five of six matches to clinch the team victory.<\/p>\n
Vid Maric<\/a> provided the lone singles win for Alabama State, rallying past Steph Tavares Noale in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.<\/p>\n
At the top of the lineup, Milan Ristov<\/a> pushed his match to a tight first-set tiebreak before falling 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. Flor De Sitter<\/a> (6-1, 6-4), Eloi Roux<\/a> (7-5, 6-2), Martin Catrice<\/a> (6-1, 6-1), and Loris Gueli<\/a> (6-0, 6-1) also dropped straight-set decisions as Troy secured the remaining points.<\/p>\n
