Damon Hill shed more light on his rivalry with Michael Schumacher, and a cap slap which appeared in a recent documentary.<\/p>\n
Sky\u2019s recently released documentary, titled \u2018Hill\u2019, provides a detailed look into Damon Hill\u2019s racing career and harrowing life story, having lost his multi-time World Champion father Graham Hill in a plane crash, while Damon was only a teenager.<\/p>\n

One piece of footage which attracted particular attention was when Damon\u2019s former title rival \u2013 F1 icon Michael Schumacher \u2013 gives the victorious Brit\u2019s cap a knock.<\/p>\n
Speaking with The Guardian<\/a>, Hill shed more light on what went down.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was embarrassed and didn\u2019t know how to respond to someone who had beaten him,\u201d said Hill. \u201cIt was an awkward moment.<\/p>\n \u201cI tried to have conversations with him and it wasn\u2019t possible. Our values were different.\u201d<\/p>\n Hill arrived on the Formula 1 scene in 1992, and by 1996 \u2013 after two runner-up results to Schumacher in the Drivers\u2019 Championship \u2013 Hill\u2019s time finally arrived.<\/p>\n Missing out on the 1994 crown to Schumacher by a single point, the following year saw Williams emerge as the cream of the crop, Hill clinching his maiden World Championship ahead of team-mate Jacques Villeneuve. He was dropped by Williams at the end of the season despite his title win.<\/p>\n Hill admits that Schumacher, as a rival, brought out the very best that he had to offer.<\/p>\n \u201cI was nowhere near as good as him, and I\u2019m never going to pretend that I was,\u201d Hill said of Schumacher.<\/p>\n \u201cBut, having him as a foil brought out the most I could get out of myself, and I know what it\u2019s like to get driven absolutely to the maximum.<\/p>\n \u201cSometimes I was a match for him but, aged 36, it was hard.
