During a recent chat with Lilly Singh, Abhishek shared a heartwarming memory from Aaradhya\u2019s early childhood, one that still brings a smile to his face. \u201cWe were watching TV when she was a kid, and I was being tortured by Peppa Pig. I said, \u2018Hey, Aaradhya\u2026\u2019 You know how kids are, they\u2019re like zombies. I said, \u2018Aaradhya, can you just get Papa a glass of water?\u2019 She looked at me like, \u2018What?\u2019 I said, \u2018Can you give me a glass of water?\u2019 She said, \u2018Why?\u2019 I said, \u2018Because I asked you to.\u2019 It\u2019s normal, right? I\u2019m the dad, get me a glass of water. She got up, went and got me a glass of water very sweetly. I said, \u2018Thank you,\u2019 gave her a kiss, and she sat down.\u201d <\/p>\n

The actor went on to describe how the simple exchange soon took an amusing yet insightful turn. \u201cHalf an hour later she says \u2018Papa?\u2019 I said \u2018Yes?\u2019 She asked, \u2018Can you give me a glass of water?\u2019 And I\u2019m like \u2018Go get it yourself.\u2019 She said, \u2018Why? If you can ask me, why can\u2019t I ask you?\u2019 I had no answer to that. And I was like, she\u2019s right. I mean, I can\u2019t pull rank on her. She\u2019s right. If she can get me a glass of water, why can\u2019t I get it for her? And I never butted heads with her after that. Talking more about his approach to parenting, Bachchan mentioned that he and Aishwarya<\/a> prefer a balanced, partnership-based approach rather than defined parental roles. \u201cIn my home, as parents, both of us try to be the best example for Aaradhya instead of telling her what is right and what is wrong. We believe in showing what to do by being that ourselves. It\u2019s never been like, \u2018Okay, I\u2019ll teach her self-defence.\u2019 If you\u2019ve seen my wife, she can take care of herself. It\u2019s never been divided like, \u2018I\u2019ll teach her self-defence, you teach her to be empathetic.\u2019 No, it\u2019s not that.\u201dHe added: \u201cIt\u2019s simply about leading a good, responsible life with your values and morals. Your child sees that, emulates it, and in that way, you\u2019ve equipped them. So there\u2019s no competition at home about who has to be the man or who has to be the woman. When it comes to children, we both believe you have to lead by example, not try to teach them what is right and wrong. Because what\u2019s right for us might not be right for them. Generations change. Our world is very different, and our children\u2019s world is going to be even more different.\u201d<\/p>\n
