After years of coexisting in the top 10 of the heavyweight division, Deontay Wilder (44-4-1) and Derek Chisora (36-13)<\/a> finally meet in the ring on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Wilder, 40, has not fought since June 2025, when he ended a two-fight skid with a seventh-round knockout of Tyrrell Herndon. Although he is now coming off a win, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is still just 2-4 in his last six fights, including three knockout losses since 2020.<\/p>\n

Chisora, 42, has defied time in his last three fights, pulling off upset victories over Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin. The three-fight win streak ties his personal best in the last 10 years and comes on the heels of a brutal 1-4 skid.<\/p>\n

For the second consecutive fight, Chisora is promoting the bout as his retirement. Wilder, however, believes he still has many fruitful years ahead of him and believes he will be next in line for Oleksandr Usyk with a win.<\/p>\n

Wilder and Chisora both have the ability to put on one final fun fight for the fans, but the most likely outcome is a 12-round staring contest. Wilder still presents a massive power threat that is impossible to ignore, but his offensive volume has significantly decreased since he entered the twilight of his career.<\/p>\n

Against Herndon, a 38-year-old regional fighter who was hand-picked for Wilder to look good against, he still landed just 59 punches in seven rounds before finally forcing the stoppage. To his credit, Wilder threw 457 punches, but most were tepid jabs that somehow still missed the mark against an overwhelmed and undersized opponent.<\/p>\n

Now 2-4 in his last six fights, Wilder has not beaten a ranked opponent since his win over Luis Ortiz in 2019.<\/p>\n

Chisora is not the most active fighter in the world, but he will have to push the pace once again to overcome Wilder’s massive physical advantages. ‘War’ certainly earns his moniker each time out and is willing to take one to land two, which has been his biggest key to victory lately in wins over Otto Wallin and Joe Joyce.<\/p>\n

Wilder will be pumping his jab, but Chisora will be landing more effectively throughout. Chisora’s only concern should be getting caught with a wild counter, but Wilder’s focus on becoming a better technician has reduced the impact his power used to have on opponents.<\/p>\n

Wilder still has the touch of death, but the longer the fight goes, the more it favors Chisora, who has not gotten a stoppage victory since October 2019.<\/p>\n
