Dolphins<\/a> centre Herbie Farnworth<\/a> has claimed at every available opportunity he doesn’t want to leave the Dolphins<\/a>, but the English international has been sensationally linked to the Sydney Roosters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One of the game’s best centres, Farnworth had an exceptional 2025 campaign, and has started 2026 strongly as well.<\/p>\n

Currently signed until the end of 2027, the English international would be free to negotiate with rival clubs from November 1 should he choose to head to the open market.<\/p>\n

While there has been no suggestion of that being likely at this stage, the English centre briefly entertained it before re-signing with the Dolphins<\/a> last time, and now it has been theorised that the Sydney Roosters<\/a> could come knocking.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was talking to a couple of people earlier this week and they said to me, \u201cMate just keep an eye on Herbie Farnworth<\/a>. There’s a little bit of mail kicking around that the Roosters are just monitoring the situation with Herbie,\u201d journalist James Hooper said on FanaticsTV’s Rugby League<\/a> Insider.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow Herbie’s off-contract at the end of next season but that means he’s a free agent as of November 1. If he isn’t signed by them, then he can go to the open market.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe theory is that the Roosters are very much having a look at Herbie because he’s an English international and he has electric speed, strong defence, love his footwork and a tryscorer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey’ve signed DCE in the last 12 months. They’ve signed Reece Robson<\/a> in the last 12 months.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey’ve had James Tedesco<\/a> as the captain of the club for a number of seasons now and that’s all part of the Herbie Farnworth<\/a> management stable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Roosters have plenty of cash available given the club’s high-profile departures in recent times, with more to come.<\/p>\n

Mark Nawaqanitawase<\/a> leaves at the end of this year to head back to rugby union, while Daniel Tupou<\/a> and James Tedesco<\/a> are also approaching the end of their careers.<\/p>\n

The tri-colours have, by all reports, also attempted to leave cash on the table to lure Joseph Manu<\/a> back from rugby union at some point, while their only big signing in recent times has been Reece Robson<\/a>.<\/p>\n
