Guy Jutras, who spanned the spectrum of Boxing, has died aged ninety five.<\/p>\n

Every now and then in Boxing, we come across An Everyman. A person so fine whom to define. A person who stands out, a head and shoulders above the rank and file of mere mortals.<\/p>\n

Guy Jutras, the Pride of Quebec and Canada, has passed away aged ninety five. During his long lifetime, Guy was a boxer, a Referee, a Judge, a matchmaker and a Radio\/Television commentator. He did it all, and by God he did it well!<\/p>\n

Handy with his fists in a rough and tumble, Guy decided the gym and not the streets was his destiny. As a welterweight he excelled, after joining the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1950, Guy won the Maritime Golden Gloves and a year later the Navy Golden Gloves.<\/p>\n

He turned pro and fought his first five bouts in just five weeks, winning three by KO.<\/p>\n

Guy wisely and astutely used his purses to gain an education. He studied at Springfield College, Massachusetts, to become a physical education Teacher, gaining a BSC Degree.<\/p>\n

He then decided to join the insurance industry, guided by his Mother, who was the first Broker in Quebec.<\/p>\n

Guy became a Referee of Amateur Boxing in 1969. With experience he then became a Referee of professional boxing, with the minimum of interference for the hands on participants, while controlling the flow, tempo and fair actions of each bout from beginning to final bell.<\/p>\n

Guy then became a Judge, who was involved with more than seventy bouts all around the world.<\/p>\n

An adept radio and television commentator, dipping into his broad spectrum kitbag of experience right across the board\/ring, Guy was a natural and attractive communicator. He was also an assistant Matchmaker for Interbox Promotions.<\/p>\n

Guy was inducted into the Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame in 1979 and welcomed into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2019. International flags there are flying at half staff.<\/p>\n

We have no notion of how long our lifespan will be. Brief or aged, we are born, we live and then we die. It`s what we do between beginning and end, which defines us. It`s the memories we leave which preserve us as strong.<\/p>\n

Guy Jutras was one of the very strongest.<\/p>\n
