The siren goes, and Port Adelaide come away with a comfortable win. They were rarely strongly challenged after half-time, and they had plenty in reserve in the end.<\/p>\n

That’s an important win for the Power and coach Josh Carr ahead of Gather Round, where they will face St Kilda on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

“The Power from Port” rings out at headquarters, and that won’t be adding to Richmond fans’ enjoyment.<\/p>\n

But although the Tigers are still winless, even with all their missing personnel, there was still some solid performances.<\/p>\n

Fair dues to Richmond for keeping the pressure up to the end.<\/p>\n

The Tigers have had more inside 50s (49-44), and they are trying hard. That time a good delivery found Sam Lalor on left side of 50. The Tigers’ number four goes back – and he never looks like missing. Brilliant finish!<\/p>\n

The lead is back to 35 points deep in time on, but between Lalor, Rioli and a few others, the Tigers have some positives out of today.<\/p>\n

The Tigers fans are still cheering at the MCG, in respect of a solid effort from the home side.<\/p>\n

They’re going to lose this one by a big margin, but they’re not putting the cue in the rack and are still trying to make tackles stick and hit back on the scoreboard.<\/p>\n

We’re into time on, and the lead is 48 points.<\/p>\n

Well, now it’s 42 points after another huge effort from Maurice Rioli, who is in the right place to receive a handball. Two similar efforts later, Sam Banks is running into an open goal for Richmond’s fifth of the day.<\/p>\n

Are Richmond tiring? Do the Power sense the game is theirs?<\/p>\n

Maybe a bit of both.<\/p>\n

That was a little too easy, with Port Adelaide shrugging off a tackle in midfield, and then sending it for Jack Lukosius to mark inside 50.<\/p>\n

He converts, and the lead is out to 43 points.<\/p>\n

That’s the difference!<\/p>\n

Richmond have been attacking to start the final quarter, but haven’t been able to take their chances.<\/p>\n

Right now, the Power went through the middle with fast ball movement – one ball in particular from Zak Butters was brilliant.<\/p>\n

The ball was launched towards Jason Horne-Francis, he didn’t take the mark but earned the free for a high tackle.<\/p>\n

He kicked the goal, and then within a minute or so the visitors were in again, rushing the ball inside 50 for Jack Lukosius to snap one and kick the Power clear.<\/p>\n

Maurice Rioli has been the spark for a lot of Richmond’s efforts.<\/p>\n

The big leaps, the run-down tackles, the goal assists.<\/p>\n

It’s a lot to ask, but can he create a few more chances in this final term to give the Tigers the momentum?<\/p>\n

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again – the kicking for goal today has been decidedly average.<\/p>\n

More misses deep in time on leave the Tigers frustrated, but Port Adelaide missed their own.<\/p>\n

The siren goes, and the lead is 27 points. It would take an almighty effort for the Tigers to come back from here, but the Power’s lack of finishing is hardly inspiring confidence.<\/p>\n

Who is going to seize this game in the final half an hour’s footy? We’ll find out shortly.<\/p>\n

Steely Green misses another chance as frustration mounts for Tigers\"Andrew<\/p>\n

The pressure is rising at the MCG.<\/p>\n

Steely Green has had two chances and missed.<\/p>\n

Now Tyler Sonsie produced a great smother on the wing, and booted a long bomb to near the square where Green marked.<\/p>\n

But he’s missed again!<\/p>\n

The lead is 27 points late in the third term. Richmond has to kick a goal before the final change.<\/p>\n

The Tigers are definitely lifting here!<\/p>\n

They forced it inside 50, a bouncing ball landed with Miles Bergman on the line, but he was tackled by Steely Green.<\/p>\n

And it’s holding the ball!<\/p>\n

But Green has missed.<\/p>\n

That was better from the home side!<\/p>\n

They put a few decent kicks together, chipping and marking their way downfield before switching into the corridor.<\/p>\n

Ben Miller had the ball and instead of going for the hotspot, he lowered his eyes and chipped for Sam Lalor, who marked inside 50.<\/p>\n

The Richmond young gun went back and split the sticks, and the lead is back to 29 points. It’s a start, but they need a few more of those pretty shortly.<\/p>\n

Sweet finish for Port Adelaide\"Andrew<\/p>\n

The Power are taking control of this game right now.<\/p>\n

The visitors have eight inside 50s to one in the the third term, and they are making things count now.<\/p>\n

They forced a forward 50 stoppage, and Jordan Sweet took the ball out of the ruck and snapped his team’s eighth goal of the match.<\/p>\n

That’s a nice return for Sweet’s 50th AFL game.<\/p>\n

The lead is now out to 36 points, and Richmond would need to find an answer soon, or this could get out of hand.<\/p>\n

Port Adelaide puts it together for back-to-back goals\"Andrew<\/p>\n

Well the Tigers laid the challenge down to Port Adelaide, and the Power have answered early in the third quarter with a pair of goals.<\/p>\n

The first one was from a free kick close in – Corey Durdin steered it through.<\/p>\n

Then after a Richmond attack, Port went coast-to-coast.<\/p>\n

They broke down the left wing, and the transition was excellent, with Zak Butters finding Jason Horne-Francis, who chipped to Jack Whitlock.<\/p>\n

Whitlock marked and kicked his second. And suddenly the lead is out to 29 points. That’s exactly what the Power needed.<\/p>\n

A few of Port Adelaide’s stars have had quiet first halves, and one of them is Zak Butters.<\/p>\n

The stand-in skipper had 11 disposals in the first half and just two score involvements.<\/p>\n

He’s been much more in the play in the third term. Port Adelaide need him to lead by example here.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Injury concerns for Port Adelaide’s Kane Farrell\"Andrew<\/p>\n

Late in that quarter, amid one of those Richmond attacks, Port Adelaide’s Kane Farrell tried to block a kick downfield.<\/p>\n

He seemed to turn his ankle, and was in all sorts afterwards.<\/p>\n

He went off the ground as was receiving assistance on the sideline. The question is whether he can go again for the second half.<\/p>\n

He has 15 disposals for the game so far, and the Power really need him back.<\/p>\n

This has turned right around.<\/p>\n

Liam Fawcett kicked his second right before the siren, and Richmond have three in quick time after looking impotent in front of goal for much of the first half.<\/p>\n

The Tigers have nearly evened out the inside 50s, and they are just pressuring the heck out of Port Adelaide.<\/p>\n

You have to say that Maurice Rioli’s speccie and set shot goal got things started, but now the momentum is with Richmond, who will almost rue the half-time siren.<\/p>\n

The lead is 15 points going into the long break, and dare we say it? Port Adelaide is suddenly in that dodgy space like they were last week against West Coast.<\/p>\n

All right, the Tigers are up and going here.<\/p>\n

They are shifting the ball forward, and the Power defence gave away a free for holding on Liam Fawcett in the right forward pocket.<\/p>\n

He goes back from beyond 50 – and he’s absolutely drilled that!<\/p>\n

The MCG crowd roars, and the Tigers are making inroads.<\/p>\n

Ok – if this breeze is as difficult as it seems, how did he kick that so dead straight from there?<\/p>\n

Doesn’t matter – great effort and a team-lifter.<\/p>\n

The home side have been struggling, but that was a moment out of nowhere!<\/p>\n

Richmond sent it forward, and Maurice Rioli decided to launch. He used Logan Evans as a springboard and got up there to take the grab (we’ll ignore that Mykelti Lefau possibly got hands to it as well).<\/p>\n

Rioli acknowledged the roars of the crowd and slotted the goal.<\/p>\n

That is a vital goal for Richmond.<\/p>\n

Jack Lukosius just reminded us of the cannon of a right foot he has. The Power went straight from defence into attack, with Lukosius booming one 60m to the wing to Corey Durdin, and then his chip landed with Joe Richards.<\/p>\n
