{"id":584943,"date":"2026-04-04T12:10:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T12:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/584943\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T12:10:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T12:10:09","slug":"asaji-eyes-stronger-japanese-presence-on-liv-golf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/584943\/","title":{"rendered":"Asaji eyes stronger Japanese presence on LIV Golf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHIBA, Japan &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livgolf.com\/players\/yosuke-asaji\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yosuke Asaji<\/a>\u00a0is embracing a homecoming this week at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalseries.com\/en\/schedule\/japan-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">International Series Japan<\/a>, returning not only to familiar ground but with a broader ambition for the future of Japanese golf.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old, who earned his place on LIV Golf League through The International Series pathway last season, believes the time could come for Japan to establish a presence on the League, if players continue to seize their opportunities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, I would love to see a Japanese team on LIV Golf, like the Korean team,\u201d said Asaji, who competes on LIV Golf as a Wild Card player. \u201cFor that to happen, Japanese players need to keep performing and testing themselves against a global field. I\u2019ll just focus on continuing to play well and doing my part.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Back competing on the circuit that helped launch his rise, the 2025 Singapore Open champion has opened his weekend at Caledonian Golf Club with steady progress, carding a 2-under 69 on moving day to move to 5 under for the tournament, keeping himself within reach heading into the final round.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While satisfied to stay under par, the Japanese star admitted there was still more to come from his performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m happy to finish under par, but making three bogeys was a bit disappointing,\u201d he said. \u201cThere were a lot of positives, but I feel like I could have done better.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A key strength this week has been his consistency off the tee, allowing him to stay patient and create chances.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was driving the ball really well today, so I knew if I kept that going, I\u2019d continue to give myself birdie opportunities,\u201d he added. \u201cThat helped me stay positive.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Having climbed through The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalseries.com\/en\/rankings\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">International Series Rankings<\/a> to secure his LIV Golf opportunity, Asaji is a firm advocate for the pathway\u2019s impact.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe International Series gives a fair chance to all players to progress,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you perform well, you can earn your way onto LIV Golf. It\u2019s a real opportunity.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now gaining experience at the highest level at LIV Golf, he is embracing the unique atmosphere that comes with it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery event is exciting because it\u2019s a new experience,\u201d he said. \u201cIn Adelaide, the atmosphere was incredible, the music, the fans, I couldn\u2019t even hear the sound of my shot. That was a really fun moment.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With upcoming events including a trip to Club de Golf Chapultepec for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livgolf.com\/schedule\/mexico-city-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LIV Golf Mexico City<\/a>, Asaji is eager to continue building momentum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to all the coming events,\u201d he said. \u201cIn Mexico, there\u2019s that famous bunker shot Tiger Woods played at Club de Golf Chapultepec back in 2019, I\u2019d love to see the hole in person and maybe try it myself.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Top image: Yosuke Asaji of Japan pictured during a press conference ahead of International Series Japan at Caledonian Golf Club.
