Despite losing Walsh, the NRL premiers flexed their muscle with a third consecutive win as Ben Hunt and Ezra Mam stabilised the Broncos to the bury the plucky Titans at a soldout Cbus Super Stadium.<\/p>\n
But Brisbane\u2019s seventh win in 10 Titans derbies was tempered by Adam Reynolds (groin) hobbling off in the 25th minute, while Walsh was left seeing stars making a trysaver on Titans forward Kurtis Morrin on the stroke of half-time.<\/p>\n
Reynolds is set for scans, while Walsh will almost certainly be ruled out of this Friday night\u2019s derby against the Cowboys at Suncorp Stadium after suffering a category-one concussion.<\/p>\n
Trailing 8-6 at half-time, the Titans sniffed blood without Brisbane\u2019s dynamic duo.<\/p>\n
But the Broncos found saviours in Mam and Hunt, who ignited Brisbane, engineering three tries in 10-minute blitz after the break to kill off the courageous Coast.<\/p>\n

Walsh was celebrating his 100th NRL game and Brisbane\u2019s $5 million man was in the mood for a party as he ripped the Titans apart from the opening seconds.<\/p>\n
\u2018Reece Lightning\u2019 opened the scoring after just three minutes outjumping opposite Keano Kini for his own bomb and he almost conjured the try of the season two minutes before half-time.<\/p>\n
The Clive Churchill Medallist retrieved a kick near his tryline, then hit the afterburners in a scorching 90-metre sprint, beating four Titans as he tap-danced along the touchline.<\/p>\n
But Walsh was cruelly denied after the touch judge correctly ruled he brushed the sideline with his right boot, his final moment of magic before his collision with Morrin.<\/p>\n

ON THE HUNT<\/p>\n
On match eve, Hunt spoke of his frustration at playing a Mr Fixit role and he gave coach Michael Maguire a welcome selection headache in the absence of Reynolds.<\/p>\n
The Titans were far from poor in this derby. But for a disgraceful forward pass ruling on a trybound AJ Brimson with Brisbane leading 16-6 in the 53rd minute, the Titans could have easily prevailed.<\/p>\n
But when Brimson was denied, Hunt stepped up 60 seconds later, releasing 150-gamer Kotoni Staggs for comeback kid Jesse Arthars\u2019 try which broke the Titans\u2019 spirit.<\/p>\n

MAM OVERBOARD<\/p>\n
Talk about a game of two halves. Ezra Mam is Brisbane\u2019s cardiac kid. He went from woeful to wondrous in a stunning 40-minute turnaround.<\/p>\n
Mam\u2019s first half was forgettable. He made four errors in a shaky opening stanza, including a fumble charging onto a Walsh inside ball which gifted the Titans a try against the run of play.<\/p>\n
But Mam came alive in the absence of Reynolds and Walsh, setting up two tries in five minutes to Xavier Willison (44th) and Gehamat Shibasaki (49th). He then crossed himself from dummy-half eight minutes from time as his underlined his match-winning class in a crisis.<\/p>\n
NIO KID ON THE BLOCK<\/p>\n
Brisbane\u2019s loss of Reynolds and Walsh paved the way for teenage sensation Antonio Verhoeven to be thrust into the action for his NRL debut.<\/p>\n
Just days after inking a three-year extension, the hulking 19-year-old was called off the six-man bench and almost scored a try on debut in what promises to be the first of many Broncos games.<\/p>\n

JOJO\u2019S MOJO<\/p>\n
Queensland coach Billy Slater is watching Jojo Fifita closely and the strapping Titans centre enhanced his claims for an Origin debut with a two-try display.<\/p>\n
Gold Coast coach Josh Hannay believes the 23-year-old is ready for the Origin arena and Fifita submitted a fair statement to Slater with 158 metres and five tackle busts marking up against incumbent Maroons centre Gehamat Shibasaki.<\/p>\n
The Titans were brave, but Brisbane\u2019s firepower was the difference.<\/p>\n

– A huge turning point in the match were the Titans were denied a try to AJ Brimson for a forward pass which looked to be an incorrect decision. The Broncos marched up field in the next set for Jesse Arthars to score – a possible 16-12 scoreline became 20-6. <\/p>\n
– Adam Reynolds left the field in the first half with a reported groin injury. He did not return after the break. <\/p>\n
– Reece Walsh was sent for a HIA just before half time after attempting a tackle on Kurtis Morrin. He was ruled to have category 1 concussion symptoms and will miss the Broncos next clash with the Cowboys.<\/p>\n
– Jojo Fifita\u2019s try double gives him seven games scoring two tries or more – he has lost five of the seven. <\/p>\n
